摘要： A developing cartridge is detachably mountable to a main assembly of an image forming apparatus by passing through a mounting guide provided in the main assembly. The developing cartridge includes a frame; a developer carrying member for carrying a developer for developing an electrostatic latent image; a portion to be guided for being guided by the mounting guide when the developing cartridge passes through the mounting guide; an accommodating portion for accommodating the developer; a seal member for unsealably sealing an opening for permitting supply of the developer from the accommodating portion to the developer carrying member; and a grip member, provided at a longitudinal end portion of the seal member, including a fixed portion dismountably fixed on the frame and a grip portion to be gripped when the seal member is removed. The grip portion is disposed in a state in which the grip portion is bent relative to the fixed portion in a direction crossing a mounting direction of the developing cartridge. The grip portion prevents mounting of the developing cartridge by contacting a part of the image forming apparatus when the developing cartridge is mounted in the main assembly of the image forming apparatus.

摘要： A cartridge for use with a main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus, the main assembly including a driving shaft having a rotational force applying portion, wherein the cartridge is dismountable from the main assembly in a direction substantially perpendicular to an axial direction of the driving shaft, the cartridge including i) a developing roller for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on an electrophotographic photosensitive drum, the developing roller being rotatable about an axis thereof; and ii) a coupling member engageable with the rotational force applying portion to receive a rotational force for rotating the developing roller, the coupling member being capable of taking a rotational force transmitting angular position for transmitting the rotational force for rotating the developing roller to the developing roller and a disengaging angular position in which the coupling member is inclined away from the rotational force transmitting angular position, wherein when the cartridge is dismounted from the main assembly of the electrophotographic image forming apparatus in a direction substantially perpendicular to the axis of the developing roller, the coupling member moves from the rotational force transmitting angular position to the disengaging angular position.

摘要： A process cartridge is detachably mountable to a main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus and which is transportable in a state of being mounted to the main assembly of the apparatus. The cartridge includes an electrophotographic photosensitive member, a developing roller for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on the member with a developer, a developer accommodating portion accommodating the developer and having a developer supply opening for permitting passage of the developer to supply the developer to the roller, a sealing member unsealably sealing the opening and a grip member, provided on the sealing member, for being gripped to unseal the opening when the sealing member is removed from the opening. The grip member is movable between a first position where the cartridge can move to a predetermined position in the main assembly to permit transportation of the cartridge when mounted to the main assembly, and a second position where the cartridge is prevented from moving to the predetermined position from the first position when the cartridge is dismounted from the predetermined position.

摘要： An electrophotographic photosensitive drum supporting apparatus for rotatably supporting a photosensitive drum includes a first supporting member having a first hole for supporting one end of the drum, and first and second surfaces on one side and the other side of the first supporting member relative to an imaginary plane passing through the axis of the drum, respectively. The first and second surfaces are inclined with respect to the plane so as to contact with the drum and are provided on the inner surface of the first hole. The apparatus also includes a second supporting member having a second hole for supporting the other end of the drum, and a third and a fourth surfaces on one side and the other side of the second supporting member relative to the plane, respectively. The third and fourth surfaces are inclined with respect to the plane so as to contact with the drum and are provided on the inner surface of the second hole. The apparatus also includes a plurality of process members provided in contact with the drum. The direction of the resultant force of a force acting on the drum by the plurality of process members is a direction in which the drum is urged against the first and second inclined surfaces and against the third and fourth inclined surfaces.

摘要： An electrophotographic image forming apparatus usable with process cartridges. The apparatus includes mounting portions for detachably mounting the cartridges. In each mounting portion, a cartridge is inclined downwardly from an upstream to a downstream side with respect to a mounting direction and a phantom plane passing through axes of the drums is inclined toward a downstream side with respect to the mounting direction from a bottom part to a top part of the phantom plane. Parts of cartridges mounted to a lower one and the next higher one of the mounting portions overlap, as seen along a plane perpendicular to the phantom plane from an upstream side with respect to the mounting direction. The apparatus also has a light projector and a feeder for feeding recording material, and the cartridges are mounted to or demounted from respective mounting portions from above the perpendicular plane.

摘要： A process cartridge having an insertion construction for a connecting pin swingably supporting a developing unit where there are achieved an improvement in assembly property, a minimization of container deformation, and prevention of coming-off of the connecting pin due to a small press-fitting region. The connecting pin swingably supporting the developing unit is formed of a styrene-based resin composite, and, by injecting a terpene solvent from a cutout of a photosensitive drum unit frame to the outer periphery of the connecting pin, integral connection is effected between the photosensitive drum unit frame and the connecting pin, and further, between the photosensitive drum unit frame and a drum bearing member. Due to a press-fit portion between the connecting pin and the photosensitive drum unit frame, no terpene solvent flows to the developing unit side.
