Abstract:
A self-capacitive touch sensor panel configured to have a portion of both the touch and display functionality integrated into a common layer is provided. The touch sensor panel includes a layer with circuit elements that can switchably operate as both touch circuitry and display circuitry such that during a touch mode of the device the circuit elements operate as touch circuitry and during a display mode of the device the circuit elements operate as display circuitry. The touch mode and display mode can be time multiplexed. By integrating the touch hardware and display hardware into common layers, savings in power, weight and thickness of the device can be realized.
Abstract:
A touch screen is disclosed that includes conductive elements in a display area and connecting traces for routing the conductive elements to other locations. The connecting traces can be routed underneath or over existing opaque structures in the display area, instead of in border areas adjacent to the display area, to minimize the effect of the connecting traces on the display aperture ratio. The lengths and/or widths of these connecting traces as well as the number of parallel connecting traces used to connect to a particular element can be selected to balance the load on the drive and/or sense circuitry and on display pixels caused by the connecting traces.
Abstract:
An electronic display system has a light transmissive panel, a region of display elements on the panel, and source lines coupled to the display elements. A demultiplexer circuit has multiple groups of pass gates. Each pass gate has a pair of complimentary on-panel transistors, and the signal outputs of each group are connected to a respective group of the source lines. A display driver integrated circuit (IC) receives video data and timing control signals. A signal input of each group of pass gates is connected to a respective output pin of the driver IC. The display driver IC provides digital timing control signals to control the pass gates of the demultiplexer circuit. Other embodiments are also described.
Abstract:
Visibility of the metal mesh touch electrodes can be mitigated using one or more mitigation techniques. In some examples, the boundary between touch electrodes and/or the boundary between a touch electrode and a routing trace of another touch electrode and/or the boundary between two routing traces can be non-linear. In some examples, dummy cuts can be made within an area of a touch electrode region (e.g., while maintaining the same electrical potential for the touch electrode region). In some examples, notches can be made in the metal mesh. In some examples, the location of cuts and/or notches can be optimized to mitigate visibility of the metal mesh. In some examples, some or all of the visibility mitigations may be used in combination in a touch screen.

Abstract:
Electronic devices, storage medium containing instructions, and methods pertain to cancelling noise that results from application of clocks/clock drivers of a display. The electronic display may inject counter noise into the cathode. For example, the counter noise may be injected via a sensing layer, via unused clocks, and/or via a power rail of the display.
Abstract:
A touch sensitive device that can detect the amount of pressure being applied to a touch screen from a user or other external object is provided. A spacer of the touch screen can be coated with a layer of conductive material and the change in capacitance between the spacer and various circuit elements of the touch screen can be measured. The change in capacitance can be correlated to the amount of pressure being applied to the touch screen, thus providing a method to determine the pressure being applied. During operation of the device, the system can time multiplex touch, display and pressure sensing operations so as to take advantage of an integrated touch and display architecture.

Abstract:
A gate drive circuit may include a latch circuit, a first transmission gate, and a second transmission gate. The first transmission gate and the second transmission gate may both be directly coupled to the latch circuit and may be directly coupled to a first gate line and a second gate line, respectively. The latch circuit may receive an electrical signal from a third gate line adjacent to the second gate line, such that the electrical signal is configured to reset a state of the latch circuit.
