Abstract:
An electronic device provides, to a display, information identifying a plurality of media sources for a first media program, including a first media source for the first media program; episode objects that correspond episodes for the first media program available from the first media source, a first episode object of the episode objects being visually distinguished to indicate selection of the first episode object, the first episode object corresponding to a first episode of the first media program; and a first set of media management objects for the first episode, wherein the first set of media management objects includes one or more media presentation option objects that corresponds to the first episode and the first media source. In response to a user input to activate a first media presentation option object, initiating provision, to the display, of data to play the first episode.
Abstract:
An electronic device provides, to a display, while in a screensaver mode, data to present a first media, that includes a first visual motion effect. In response to receiving a user input on a remote user input device, a type of the user input on the remote user input device is determined. If the user input is of a first type, the device provides, to the display, data to present the first media, that includes the first visual motion effect, with corresponding descriptive text. If the user input is of a second type, the device exits the screensaver mode.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for a media content user interface. A media content provider includes storage for storing and serving video content to subscribers. The media content provider records and or otherwise stores video content from around the world. Subscribers are provided a user interface to the system that includes a channel bar. The channel bar is dynamically scoped responsive to interactions of a viewer with the system. Selectable elements within the channel bar provide direct access to related content regarding video content, such as television series information and cast information. In addition, the channel bar is operable in multiple modes. An EPG mode displays live video for multiple channels simultaneously. Themed modes permit channel bars that display content according to various themes which may be defined by a viewer, the provider, or both.
Abstract:
An electronic device with one or more processors and memory is in communication with a display. The device, while in a first playback navigation mode, provides, to the display, video information for display; and receives an input that corresponds to a request by a user to switch to a second playback navigation mode. The video information includes information that corresponds to one or more frames of a video, a scrubber bar that represents a timeline of the video, a first playhead that indicates a current play position in the scrubber bar, and playback position markers, distinct from the first playhead, that indicate predetermined playback positions in the video. The device, in response to receiving the input, transitions from the first playback navigation mode to the second playback navigation mode; and, while in the second playback navigation mode, ceases to provide information that corresponds to the playback position markers.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to devices and methods for providing integrated content recommendations in a graphical user-interface GUI). Specifically, embodiments of the present disclosure employ a recommendation request from a client running a GUI for content recommendations formatted to fit within the GUI. An external component determines the recommendations, formats the recommendations to match a layout/look and feel of the GUI and the formatted recommendations are presented in the GUI as an integrated component of the GUI.
Abstract:
An electronic device provides data to present a media information user interface for a media content item. The media information user interface includes: media source objects that correspond to respective media sources for the media content item, and media management objects for the media content item. A media source object, corresponding to a media source, is visually distinguished to indicate selection of the media source object. The media management objects include one or more media presentation option objects that correspond to the media content item and the media source. The device receives a user input; and, in response, in accordance with determining that the user input corresponds to a request to activate a media presentation option object, initiates provision of data to play the media content item using data received from the media source in accordance with a media presentation option that corresponds to the media presentation option object.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for a media content system. A media content provider includes storage for storing and serving video content to subscribers. The media content provider records and or otherwise stores video content from around the world. The system includes display devices configured to identify and tailor content to multiple individual users. Each user may have individual settings which provide for a customized viewing environment and experience. The system is configured to identify users of the system in order to tailor the content as appropriate. In addition, identification of users allows for the identification of the subscription content that corresponds to the user. Based upon identification of a user and corresponding subscription, the user's subscription content may be streamed to any location. In this manner, the users subscribed content may follow the user from home to a friend's house, or elsewhere.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to an electronic device. The electronic device generates for presentation on a display a user interface including a plurality of groups of icons. A plurality of the icons have been grouped based at least in part on metadata of applications associated with the icons. The electronic device receives input selecting a respective icon. In response to receiving the input selecting a respective icon, the electronic device invokes an instance of an application associated with the respective icon.

Abstract:
In some embodiments, an electronic device organizes and selectively grants access to its authorization with a primary content provider to applications downloaded on the electronic device for viewing content from secondary content providers. In some embodiments, an electronic device prompts a user to download applications associated with a primary content provider in response to the user authorizing the electronic device with the primary content provider.
