Abstract:
Detection of a deployment position for an electronic device's first moveable component having a first user interface, wherein the first moveable component is selectively deployable between at least a non-deployed position and a fully-deployed position and wherein the first user interface is at least partially hidden from view when in the non-deployed position, prompts configuring that first user interface based, at least in part, on an ergonomic circumstance of deployment of the first moveable component. This ergonomic circumstance can comprise, for example, a request, need, or situation to maintain or increase the user's comfort or to maintain or reduce the user's fatigue while using the electronic device.
Abstract:
Disclosed are editing methods that are added to speech-based searching to allow users to better understand textual queries submitted to a search engine and to easily edit their speech queries. According to some embodiments, the user begins to speak. The user's speech is translated into a textual query and submitted to a search engine. The results of the search are presented to the user. As the user continues to speak, the user's speech query is refined based on the user's further speech. The refined speech query is converted to a textual query which is again submitted to the search engine. The refined results are presented to the user. This process continues as long as the user continues to refine the query. Some embodiments present the textual query to the user and allow the user to use both speech-based and non-speech-based tools to edit the textual query.
Abstract:
A system (100) and method for managing communication session is provided. The system includes a mobile node (104) that is communicably coupled to a first communication network (102). Further, the system includes a first proxy-relay (108). The first proxy-relay is communicably coupled to the first communication network and performs one or more functions on behalf of the mobile node. The system also includes a first policy-profile repository (106) that is communicably coupled to the first communication network. The first policy-profile repository stores a first set of policy-profile definitions describing a first set of services in the first communication network that the mobile node is allowed to access and a first set of rules describing discovery preferences for the mobile mode.
Abstract:
A system and method for providing chat group services to wireless mobile terminals is disclosed. The chat forum permits integrated voice and text messaging. The system includes plural mobile terminals, each being capable of running a chat client application. A server complex is connected to one or more wireless carrier networks by way of a packet-based network, such as the Internet. The server complex includes server applications and components for supporting the chat group services and communicating with the chat clients on the mobile terminals. The system also includes features that permit the integration of legacy mobile terminals, communication with machine interfaces using a chat metaphor, and robustness and reliability of operation across various wireless operators.
Abstract:
At an audio source, pause information is added to audio data, the combination of which is subsequently packetized. The resulting packets are transmitted to an audio destination via a network in which different packets may be subjected to varying levels of delay. At the audio destination, the pause information may be used to insert pauses at appropriate times to accommodate the occurrence of delays in packet delivery. In one embodiment, pauses are inserted based on a hierarchy of pause types. During pauses, audio filler information may be injected. In this manner, the effects of variable network delays upon reconstructed audio may be mitigated.

Abstract:
Systems, methods and apparatus are described for displaying visual information on a deformable display device, and for compensating for distortion of images of the visual information that results from the deformation of the display device and the viewing orientation of a viewer of the display device, or for improving or enhancing the displayed visual information in response to the deformation of the display device and the viewing position of the viewer.
Abstract:
A method, system and apparatus for coordinating call status are provided. When a call directed to both a first communication device and a second communication device was answered at the first communication device, the second communication device is notified that the call was answered, such that the second communication device records a status of the call as answered.
Abstract:
A portable electronic device detects a trigger event and responds by automatically moving a component that comprises a part of the portable electronic device. Examples of trigger events include but are not limited to receiving a communication (such as a wireless communication), receiving an input from a user interface, the occurrence of a time-based event, and so forth. The movement can comprise articulation-based movement (including but not limited to pivoting, rotating, sliding, bending, telescoping, elongating, realigning, or separating, to note but a few examples in these regards). These teachings will accommodate determining a present suitability of so moving the component, and not moving the component when such movement is not suitable at a time of determining the suitability. Such a determination can precede the movement and/or can occur during the course of the movement as desired.
Abstract:
A single content region in a chat history display is used to display entries representative of a plurality of messages corresponding to all chat histories for all of chat threads currently engaged in by a given mobile terminal. Additionally, a buddy list display supports management of chat buddies, a detail view display allows otherwise truncated messages to be displayed, and a text message editor display supports the composition of text messages. Each chat user may designate public display identifiers for purposes of identification to other chat users. Additionally, each user may designate private display identifiers for each of his/her buddies, which private display identifiers may be used to replace the public display identifiers for that user's buddies when displayed on the user's mobile terminal. In this manner, the use of speech and text based group chatting and similar services in wireless communication environments is more readily enabled.
