    摘要: Methods and apparatus for efficiently utilizing an optical control plane distinct from an electronic control plane to facilitate the setup of paths in a dense wave division multiplexing network are disclosed. According to one aspect of the present invention, a method includes receiving a probe arranged determine the optical feasibility of a first path, and determining a probability of success associated with the probe. The probability of success indicates a likelihood that the probe will be successfully routed on the first path to the destination, and is associated with a particular wavelength. A second path on which to route the probe is dynamically identified if the probability indicates a low likelihood of successful routing on the first path. Finally, the method includes determining if a notification associated with the probe has been received, and altering the probability of success based on the notification if the notification has been received.

    摘要: Parallelism is exploited to accelerate the distributed computation of an MPLS Traffic Engineering LSP across multiple Autonomous Systems or areas using a virtual shortest path tree. After relaying a path computation request, a path computation element immediately begins local path segment computations even before a response to the request is received. When a response including virtual shortest path tree information is received, the tree is extended using the previously computed path segments. Also, a path computation element can verify the local feasibility of the requested path after receiving a request so that a requesting head-end or upstream path computation element can be quickly informed that a constraints-satisfying path is not available.

    摘要: Systems and methods for assuring consistency between MPLS forwarding and control planes. The control plane can be made aware of forwarding plane anomalies and can respond appropriately. One particular application is assuring consistency between forwarding and control planes of a Fast Reroute backup tunnels used to protect an MPLS Traffic Engineering LSP from a link and/or a node failure. When a backup tunnel forwarding failure is detected, the control plane can react by, for example, rerouting the backup tunnel and/or sending a notification to the operator or head-end of the protected Traffic Engineering LSP.
