Abstract:
A power distribution/generation system is disclosed for supplying electrical power to a number of sites (32, 33, 34), one or more of which has a generator (53, 1) such as a Stirling engine (1) which is capable of generating electrical power. The generators (53, 1) are linked together on a local network that is connectable to an external power grid (31). A controller (35) can hold the distribution of power so that a site is supplied with electrical power from the local network if its power demand exceeds the power generated by the generators in that network. However, if the total power demand of all the sites in the network exceeds the total power available from the generators in that network, then the controller (35) causes power to be drawn from the grid (31) instead.
Abstract:
A combustor dome assembly for a gas turbine engine having a longitudinal centerline axis extending therethrough includes: an annular dome plate having an inner portion, an outer portion, a forward surface, and a plurality of circumferentially spaced openings formed therein, wherein a radial section defined between each of the openings includes a cooling trough formed therein; and, a free floating swirler located upstream of the dome plate in substantial alignment with each of the openings in the dome plate, the swirler including a forward portion and an aft portion. The aft portion of each swirler is configured so as to permit air flow to the cooling trough during operation of the gas turbine engine. In particular, the swirler aft portion includes a substantially annular flange extending adjacent to the forward surface of the dome plate, wherein opposing portions of a circumference for the flange adjacent the radial sections of the dome plate are substantially linear.
Abstract:
A method of data storage management. A server receives a data upload request from a remote client, the upload request including information identifying the data to be uploaded. The server determines that a duplicate of the data is stored at a data storage device. The server receives proof of possession information derived by the client from the data using additional information known to the server. On the basis of the received information, the server determines whether to allow the client or a user associated with the client to subsequently access the duplicate data stored at the data storage device.
Abstract:
A method representing an object appearing in still or video image for use in searching, wherein the object appears in the image with a first two-dimensional outline, by processing signals corresponding to the image, comprises deriving a view descriptor of the first outline of the object and deriving at least one additional view descriptor of the outline of the object in a different view, and associating the two or more view descriptors to form an object descriptor.
Abstract:
A holding device for supporting electric or battery-operated window candles in an upright vertical position for viewing through a window. The holding device is comprised of a horizontally extending U-shaped support base, and a vertically extending clip for attaching to a window sash which connects the support base and candle to the window. The support base accommodates a design that holds the candle base in a stationary position while the opposite end abuts the clip and window sash. The clip is attached to the window sash where said sash meets the window sill and extends upwardly. The support base and candle are connected to the window by attaching the back wall of the base to the clip that abuts the window sash. The profile and design does not impede access to normal window functions leaving space between the candle and window handle for grasping.
Abstract:
A computer implemented method, apparatus, and software for automatically generating and rendering a custom view including at least two viewlets from two different applications. A defined activity sequence is received from a user in which the activity sequence includes at least two viewlets from two applications, respectively. The received activity sequence is associated with the user. The activity sequence and the associated user are stored as a user context. A custom view is rendered to the user based on the stored user context.
Abstract:
A Stirling engine assembly (1) comprising a Stirling engine (4) having a head (8). A burner (7) surrounds the head and comprises a burner element on which a flame is sustained. The burner is fed with a combustible gas stream. A recuperator (20) preheats the gas stream with combustion products from the burner. A coolant circuit (32) is positioned to absorb heat, which is radiated from the back of the burner element away from the head, into a coolant stream separate from the gas stream.
Abstract:
A coal burner comprising a combustion chamber (18), a main nozzle (21) for particulate coal and a primary air supply opening (19) in said combustion chamber, a pilot nozzle (23) having an outlet (25) adjacent the outlet (26) to the main nozzle, a feed line (28) for feeding a mixture of ultrafine pulverized coal and an inert gaseous fluid to said pilot nozzle (23), and a separator (30) in said feed line for increasing the concentration of ultrafine coal to gaseous medium in said mixture.
