Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to enable and disable cellular services for one or more cellular capable secondary wireless devices associated with a primary wireless device are disclosed. The primary wireless device, in response to detecting a status change of an in use state of a cellular capable secondary wireless device can provide a notification to a network server of a wireless network to disable cellular wireless services for previously enabled cellular capable secondary wireless devices and to enable cellular wireless services for the cellular capable secondary wireless device. Control of cellular wireless services for cellular capable secondary wireless devices can be based on a combination of registration for services, activation and deactivation of eSIMs on the cellular capable secondary wireless devices, and/or changes to eSIM states or contexts maintained by the network server.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods to support emergency services sessions by network elements and by a wireless device are disclosed. The wireless device, when roaming to a visited country/region, queries a network-based server to obtain information for Public Land Mobile Networks (PLMNs) that support emergency services sessions via non-cellular wireless access in the visited country/region. The network-based server responds with a list of PLMNs from which the wireless device selects a PLMN. The wireless device further queries the network-based server to obtain information for evolved Packet Data Gateways (ePDGs) for a selected PLMN and receives from the network-based server a list of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for ePDGs that support emergency services sessions via non-cellular wireless access for the selected PLMN. The wireless device further queries the network-based server for local numbers of the visited country for establishing emergency services sessions and receives a categorized list of local numbers for emergency services.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods to support emergency services through untrusted wireless networks by a user equipment (UE) are disclosed. The UE detects a request for emergency services to be provided via an untrusted wireless network. The UE de-registers from any non-emergency services and releases any existing PDN connections. The UE sends a request for emergency services to an evolved packet data gateway (ePDG) at an Internet Protocol (IP) address obtained from a table or from a domain name system (DNS) server. The request includes an indication for emergency services using a configuration attribute assigned to indicate emergency services. The UE receives from the ePDG an indication of support for emergency services in a reply to the request.
Abstract:
An apparatus or method for storing records for a plurality of embedded subscriber identity module (eSIM) profiles, wherein a record for each eSIM profile comprises a state of the eSIM profile, receiving, from a first user equipment (UE), a message indicating a first eSIM profile has been deleted from the first UE, changing the state of the first eSIM profile from installed to available, receiving a message requesting the first eSIM profile be allocated to a second UE, changing the state of the first eSIM profile to a state allowing the eSIM profile to be downloaded to the second UE and downloading the first eSIM profile to the second UE.
Abstract:
The described embodiments set forth techniques for transferring an electronic subscriber identity module (eSIM) with the same integrated circuit card identifier (ICCID) value from a source mobile wireless device to a target mobile wireless device directly with a mobile network operator (MNO) provisioning server. The target mobile wireless device downloads the eSIM from the MNO provisioning server after deletion of the eSIM on the source mobile wireless device and reassignment of the eSIM with the same ICCID value to the target mobile wireless device.
Abstract:
Embodiments described herein relate to transfer of credentials between two mobile wireless devices that are within proximity of each other, via a secure local connection, or via a network-based cloud service, where the two mobile wireless devices are not in proximity to each other. Transfer of credentials can include communication between a source device, a target device, and/or one more network-based servers, which can include mobile network operator (MNO) managed servers, such as an entitlement server, a web-sheet server, an authentication server, a provisioning server, a subscription management data preparation (SM-DP+ ) server, a home subscriber server (HSS), and/or an authentication server, as well as third-party managed servers, such as a cloud service server and/or an identification services server. Authentication can be based at least in part on one or more tokens and/or a trust flag obtained by the source device and provided to the target device.
Abstract:
This Application describes mechanisms for enterprise remote management of cellular services provided via access credentials, e.g., subscriber identity modules (SIMs) and/or electronic SIMS (eSIMs), for wireless devices. To minimize requirements for user interaction, installation and management of business-supplied cellular service profiles on the wireless device can intercept alert notifications to reduce interruptions and allow for background management of the business-supplied cellular service profiles. Additionally, a business enterprise can use multiple, distinct services to initiate installation of an eSIM to a wireless device. When two different services attempt to install eSIMs on the wireless device in parallel, management software on the wireless device can control an order of installation and disallow duplicate installations of an identical eSIM to the wireless device. The management software can also monitor eSIM installations and manage alert notifications that occur during the eSIM installation process.
Abstract:
A device providing inter-device call continuity facilitated by a wireless audio output device may include a processor configured to initiate, over a peer-to-peer connection with a second device, a communication session between the second device and a third device. The processor may be further configured to establish, over the peer-to-peer connection with the second device, an audio link corresponding to the communication session. The processor may be further configured to determine, based at least in part on the audio link, that a connection quality of the peer-to-peer connection satisfies a connection degradation condition. The processor may be further configured to request, over a wide area network connection, for the communication session with the third device to be handed-off from the second device to the first device, and to establish, over the wide area network connection, the communication session with the third device.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods to support authentication failure handling by network elements and by a wireless communication device when attempting access to services through non-cellular wireless networks by the wireless communication device are disclosed. Error messages received from evolved packet core (EPC) network elements, such as an authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) server, are mapped to failure messages provided to wireless communication devices by internetworking equipment, such as an evolved packet data gateway (ePDG). The wireless communication device determines a failures cause based on the failure messages and disallows retry attempts until select criteria are satisfied.
