A method is disclosed for enhancing estimation of parameters for an aircraft simulator having a simulation model and covariance matrix. According to embodiments of the invention the method comprising providing a first estimation of predetermined parameters of the aircraft's maneuvers performance, performing maneuvers with the aircraft, collecting actual flight data over a time representing the maneuvers of the aircraft, dividing the actual flight data into segments with quasi-constant velocity, feeding recorded flight control data of each segment into the simulation model, comparing output from the simulation model with actual flight data to determine an error vector and updating the covariance matrix and the estimation of the desired parameters using the error vector.

For each participant A there is stored the identity of all near neighbors B(A) and all far neighbors C(A) being within a radius R of his near neighbors B(A) and who are not also near neighbors B(A) of A. During each first time slice, any participant having a higher priority for the respective first time slice than all of his near and far neighbors may transmit data including the identities of at least those of his near neighbors who became near neighbors since his previous transmission. During each second time slice, non-transmitting participants update their respective list of near neighbors in respect of a transmitting participant according to whether his transmission is, or is not, received by them.

An airborne avionics simulator system integrated into a low-cost host aircraft to simulate the avionics of a high performance aircraft. The simulated avionics system includes for example radar, radar warning, chaff, radar locks, weapons systems, electronic defensive systems, and navigation systems. The airborne avionics simulator system can be programmed with various scenarios, such as air-to-air or air-to-ground combat, navigational situations, aircraft malfunctions, and general training routines. A multi-function display provides for simulating the avionics of various high performance aircraft. Additionally, the cockpit of the host aircraft may be modified to simulate the control stick, throttle assemblies and other aspects of a particular high performance aircraft.

A method and system for animating a 3-dimensional graphics model composed of geometrical elements which is viewed by an observer whose line of sight effects relative movement with respect to the model. Successive frames of pixels are processed by obtaining motion parameters corresponding to the relative movement of the observer's line of sight with respect to the model and processing all of the geometrical elements in the 3-dimensional graphics model in order to derive a large number of voxels some of which are hidden from the observer's line of sight and are therefore superfluous. The superfluous voxels are eliminated from the large number of voxels so as to derive successive intermediate frames each containing a relatively small number of voxels within the observer's line of sight, and each intermediate frame is processed at a rate no less than the frequency of fusion so as to produce and display successive intermittent frames of pixels wherein relative movement appears continuous to the observer.

A grid-based transmission system for determining relative positions of vehicles in a grid quadrangle of a reference grid, each vehicle having a transmitter and a receiver, comprising determining an absolute position of a vehicle. A reference grid is obtained. A reference point for the reference grid is assigned; and a relative position of the vehicle relative to the reference point is generated. The reference grid is a stored and previously generated reference grid, or is generated based on the absolute position and a transmission range of a transmitter. The vehicle sends a position message containing the relative position; the transmission range; an identity of the vehicle; an identity for all other vehicles that have previously sent a position message received by the vehicle; and the relative position of the all other vehicles.
