Abstract:
Apparatuses for playing signals received from the internet or other information highway on one or more speakers are described. The apparatus has a receiver for receiving information from a preselected address; a processor for interpreting the signals; and at least one sound emitting device for playing the processed signal. The apparatus has an ornamental design on the outside which is related to the topic of the signals received from the address.
Abstract:
A system and method for identification of a responder for responding to an emergency is disclosed. A server receives user data generally in the form of an electronic transmission wherein the user data includes at least an emergency type, user identity, and location of the emergency. A user profile is then retrieved from a user database based on the user identity. One or more responders are identified to dispatch to the emergency by searching a responder profile database that includes real-time location information based upon a criteria set including, the availability of the responder as indicated in the responder profile, and the proximity of the responder to the location of the emergency. The server electronically contacts one or more responders that meet the criteria set. An acceptance is received at the server from one or more of the responders. The server then dispatches one or more of the accepting responders to the location of the emergency. In certain embodiments, the server determines if a specialized responder is required based at least upon the user profile. In other embodiments, the transmission of the user data includes an emergency code and the server determines if a specialized responder is required based upon the emergency code.
Abstract:
A network adapted to target an individual operating a microcomputer that is linked to an Internet to offer this individual goods or services appropriate to his needs that are available at a place within reach of the individual's present location. The microcomputer is provided with a GPS receiver that indicates the present location of the individual, this location and the identity of the individual being transmitted from the microcomputer to a web site on the highway. At the web site, a computer associated with a data bank storing the profiles of a multitude of consumers is programmed to find out whether the identified individual is included in the data bank, and to determine from his profile whether there are available at a place reachable from his present location appropriate goods or services. If a match is found, an offer to supply such goods or services is conveyed from the web site to the microcomputer.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to magnetize particles and objects either on the surface of the skin or inside the body are disclosed. Methods and apparatus for measuring the magnet field strength emanated by an object are also disclosed. The object may be in a body, such as a surgically implanted device. The object may also be cream externally applied to skin, the cream containing particles that can be magnetized. The object may also be a pill that can be swallowed.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for locating first responders for an emergency situation is disclosed. A Global Positioning System for determining a geographical location of a responder connected to a personal computing device is also disclosed. Identity of a responder, availability of a responder, skills and training of a responder and location of a responder are stored in a databank. A system can select an appropriate responder and call a responder to duty when an emergency occurs. Systems and methods for alerting the public to an emergency situation are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A fragrance dispensing device is provided which is suitable for incorporation into a plush figure or when affixed with a nozzle can be inserted into a person's nose to provide aromatherapy or other herbal medications. In one of the preferred embodiments of this invention, the fragrance dispensing device includes a hollow body in the form of a sphere or a ball having a slit valve or a one-way valve disposed within the wall of the hollow body. A scented cartridge is inserted into the hollow body through the valve or some other resealable opening in the hollow body. In a preferred embodiment of this invention, the fragrance dispensing device has the hollow body encompassed within a compressible container. Once the hollow is charged with the fragrance cartridge, the container can be compressed so as to force a discrete charge of scented air from within the hollow body, into its surrounding core material. The amount of fragrance dispensed from within the hollow body is based, in part, upon the volume of the hollow body and the partial pressure of the fragrance within the cartridge. Thus, if the fragrance is highly volatile, more fragrance will be present in the discrete charge emitted from the hollow body. Where additional scent is desired, the hollow body can be repeatedly compressed to discharge additional discrete charges of fragrance into the environment.
Abstract:
A play ball comprising an outer casing having a first opening and at least one second opening that operates as a vent and a balloon is provided. The outer casing is substantially non-porous. An uninflated balloon is inserted into the outer casing through an opening. During inflation of the balloon, air from within the outer casing is released through the at least one vent. The play ball can additional sections and can be provided in kit form.
Abstract:
A book with a USB connection is provided. The book also has a memory and optionally a processor. One or more documents are stored in the memory. When the book is connected to a personal computer, the documents can be displayed on the personal computer. The documents can be modified and stored on the memory in the book for later use by the book's owner. A server can also be connected to the personal computer and the progress of a plurality of students with books can be monitored. Educational systems and methods are also disclosed. Advertising and other information can be provided on a jump drive supplied with a book or on the memory.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a composition comprising a topical composition base and a plurality of particles selected from the group consisting of magnetic particles, particles comprising microcircuit chips, and combinations thereof. The composition can further comprise one or more active agents. The particles and/or active agent(s) can optionally be encapsulated and/or coated. Methods for making and using the composition are also provided.
