A float valve controls fluid entry into the dome chamber to trap the gas charge therein while permitting the introduction of liquid from a balance-closure assist line to increase the pressure of the gas charge and assist in closing the valve member.

    摘要: A system and method for attaching and removing equipment from a subsea wellhead in which equipment is lowered and raised on a flexible riser pipe, cables extend from the equipment to the wellhead and are winched in and out to control movement of the equipment adjacent the wellhead. While the cables are being winched in or out, the cables are maintained in tension by the cable reel or a motion compensator, between the equipment and riser pipe, permits the riser pipe to reciprocate vertically with the vessel in response to wave action, while the equipment is insulated from this action during engagement and disengagement with the wellhead. The equipment may include a guide frame, which may be made in two pieces, so that the upper section of the guide frame together with a riser pipe connector, may be released from the remainder of the frame and connector and lifted off by the riser pipe or by buoyancy means. The cable winch system may thereafter be used to reconnect the riser pipe lower connector to the remainder of the equipment. Whether a one or two piece frame is used, after the frame is landed on the wellhead with the equipment spaced from the wellhead, the equipment is preferably lowered into engagement with the wellhead. The motion compensator between the frame and riser pipe may provide this function.

    摘要: A subsurface test tree so compact in its vertical dimension that the entire tree can be positioned below the blind rams in a blowout preventer stack. When the stinger is removed the remaining valve section of the tree will be below the blind rams in any conventional blowout preventer stack.The valve operators are split, one carried by the stinger and one carried in the valve housing with the arrangement of operator and valve in the housing providing an extremely small vertical dimension. A dome charge is effective on a piston to drive a ball valve to closed position to cut a line extending through the ball valve and to provide sequential operation between the ball valve on bottom and the valve thereabove which may be a flapper valve so that the lower valve closes and the line is cut before the upper valve closes.In one form the invention includes a subsurface safety valve below the test tree operated by one of control or balance pressure fluid.

The seal assembly (60) includes anchor slips (72) and a seal element (78). The seal assembly (60) is actuated by communicating hydraulic fluid to a setting assembly (82) via an operating fluid conduit integral with the tubular (62). Upon actuation, the setting assembly (82) axially shifts a pair of slip ramps (74, 76) which radially expands the anchor slips (72) into gripping engagement with the wellbore (64) and radially expands the seal element (78) into sealing engagement with the wellbore (64).

    摘要: A remotely actuated rupture disk can be ruptured upon the receipt of a predetermined signal. The disk can be placed in a port, thereby separating different pressure regions. For example, if the disk is placed in a downhole tool assembly, the disk might be used to isolate a specific chamber from the annular well pressure. An actuation signal can be transmitted down the well's annulus and is received by a receiver coupled to the rupture disk. The received signal is conditioned to trigger a destructive material which then ruptures the disk, connecting the two pressure regions.
