Abstract: A system for manufacturing a Three Dimensional (3D) printed component is provided. The system includes a substrate adapted for at least partially 3D printing the component thereon. The substrate includes a first geometrical feature. The system also includes a plurality of processing stations interconnected to one another. Each of the plurality of processing stations is adapted to receive the substrate. Each of the plurality of processing stations includes a second geometrical feature adapted to interlock with the first geometrical feature.

Abstract: A method of hardfacing a component includes generating a laser beam and directing the laser beam to an area of a wear surface of the component. The method includes feeding a flexible cord of a cladding material into the laser beam to melt the flexible cord and produce a bead of the cladding material on the wear surface. The flexible cord includes an inner metal wire surrounded by an agglomerate of abrasion and wear-resistant material that contains diamond particles. The method further includes moving the laser beam and the flexible cord along the wear surface to produce a cladding layer over the wear surface of the component.

Abstract: A method for repairing a rotor wheel including an airfoil using a blade repair assembly is disclosed. The blade repair assembly includes a first block and a second block, each including a contact surface with a shape of at least a portion of the airfoil and a cavity surface adjacent the contact surface. The method includes pre-machining an airfoil edge to a uniform height. The method also includes clamping the first block and the second block to the airfoil forming a cavity with the cavity surfaces and the airfoil edge. The method also includes filling the cavity with a metal including metallurgically bonding the metal to the airfoil.

Abstract: A method for laser cladding a material onto a surface of a machine component using a laser scanning head with laser scanning optics is disclosed. The method includes forming a molten bead of cladding material by directing a beam with the laser scanning optics over a bead scan on the machine component. The method also includes directing the beam with the laser scanning optics over a secondary scan on the machine component, the secondary scan being offset from the bead scan at a predetermined distance on the machine component.
