Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for fast convergence for virtual ethernet segments in EVPN and PBB-EVPN networks are disclosed. A first provider edge (PE) device can receive one or more advertising messages corresponding to one or more virtual ethernet segments, wherein each of the one or more advertising messages can include a port identifier. The first PE device maintains a table including the one or more virtual ethernet segments and the corresponding port identifier. The first PE device can receive a failure message from a second PE device that identifies a first port on the second PE device, and identifies, based on the table, at least one affected virtual ethernet segment that is associated with the first port. The first PE device can remove any routes that are associated with the at least one affected virtual ethernet segment and trigger mass designated-forwarding election for impacted virtual ethernet segments.

Abstract: A method, network device, and computer program product for network traffic diversion are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method according to the present disclosure includes receiving a frame at a core edge node that is a member of a redundancy group (where the frame comprises network address information and a packet), and determining whether a link is affected by a network failure. The frame was sourced by a remote core edge node that is not a member of the redundancy group, and the network address information indicates that the packet is to be forwarded via the link. In response to the link being affected by the network failure, the method further includes generating a modified frame and forwarding the modified frame to another core edge node. The generating comprises including a redirect label in the modified frame. The another core edge node is another member of the redundancy group.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for assisting Ethernet Segment (ES)-aware media access control (MAC) address learning is disclosed. The method includes receiving, at a provider edge (PE) device, a data packet from a core network, the data packet identifying an ES from which the data packet originated and identifying a MAC address as a source MAC address; determining whether the PE device has an Ethernet connection in the ES identified by the data packet; and, upon positive determination, associating the MAC address identified as the source MAC address of the data packet to a bridge port, at the PE device, of the Ethernet connection in the ES identified by the data packet.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for flushing of Customer Media Access Control (C-MAC) addresses in a PBB-EVPN network are disclosed. A first provider edge (PE) device can maintain a plurality of service instances configured on a first interface. The first PE device can detect at least one failed ethernet virtual circuit (EVC) on the first interface and identify at least one service instance from the plurality of service instances that is associated with the at least one failed EVC. The PE device can send, to a second PE device, a C-MAC flush notification message that identifies the at least one service instance and the message can cause the second PE device to remove C-MAC addresses corresponding to the at least one service instance and the B-MAC address for the first interface.
