    Abstract: An occlusion device (10) includes a cannula (24), a dilator tip (20) fixed to the cannula and a frame member formed of an occlusion member (28) and a sleeve (30). The occlusion member (28) is covered with occlusion material (26). The cannula (24) is in the form of a tube having a lumen (25) passing therethrough. The dilator tip (20) also has a lumen therethrough and a valve (32). The arrangement is such that the occluder (10) can be delivered by an over the wire method using a guide wire, whereupon the cannula and dilator tip remain in the patient as part of the occluder assembly (10).

    Abstract: A wire guide for feeding a medical catheter through the body passage of a patient to a distant target site within the body has a variably flexible distal portion. The distal portion facilitates threading the guidewire in a tortuous path through acute bends at branch junctions in the body passages of the patient. The wire guide end is able to feed into very delicate vessels such as ventricles of the brain and the spinal canal without puncturing the wall or damaging organs.

    Abstract: A vascular occluder includes a frame (10) having a generally cylindrical body portion (12), first and second end conical portions (14, 16) and first and second extremities (18, 20). Located within the fame (10) is a fibrous barrier (28) which provides rapid occlusion. The extremities (18, 20) are coupled by a coil spring (22) which acts to pull the extremities (18, 22) towards one another and thereby to cause longitudinal contraction an consequential radial expansion of the frame (10). The coil spring (22) ensures rapid and reliable deployment of the occluder in a patient's vessel. The occluder also can be compressed to a narrow diameter for deployment by means of narrow diameter sheaths.

    Abstract: An implantable medical device includes a carrier element having a distal holding member (60) which includes a proximal connecting element (64) which is attached to a guidewire catheter (24) and a distal connecting element (68) which is attached to a dilator tip (20). A proximal connecting element (64) includes a plurality of ribs (74) which have a perpendicular shoulder (80) spaced from an enlarged head (82). The shoulder (80) supports and endmost stent (92) of a device held by the distal holding member (60). Guide wires (98) pass through lumens (86, 88) in the ribs (74) and enlarged head (82), these guidewires (98) being substantially straight. The ribs (74) support an implantable medical device both in the longitudinal direction and in the radial direction. The device (90) can also be pulled rather than pushed by means of the introducer assembly.
