摘要:
A liquid ejector includes a structure defining a plurality of chambers with one of the chambers including a first and second surface. The first surface includes a nozzle orifice. A drop forming mechanism is located on the second surface of the chamber opposite the nozzle orifice. First and second liquid feed channels are in fluid communication with the chamber. First and second segments of a segmented liquid inlet are in fluid communication with the first and second liquid feed channels, respectively. The first and second segments of the segmented liquid inlet are also in fluid communication with another one of the plurality of chambers. Liquid is provided to the chamber through the first and second liquid feed channels from the segmented liquid inlet. A drop of the liquid is ejected through the nozzle orifice of the chamber by operating the drop forming mechanism.

A printer includes a printhead die including liquid ejectors separated by walls. Each liquid ejector includes a nozzle orifice and an associated drop forming mechanism. First and second liquid feed channels, extending in opposite directions, are in fluid communication with each liquid ejector. A liquid inlet includes a plurality of first and second segments in fluid communication with the first liquid feed channels and the second liquid feed channels, respectively. The first and second segments are located on opposite sides of the nozzle orifice. For a given liquid ejector, both of the first and second segments are directly in line with the liquid ejector. An electrical lead extends from each drop forming mechanism toward an edge of the printhead die. At least one of the electrical leads is positioned between neighboring segments of at least one of the first and second segments of the liquid inlet.

A fluid ejection device, a method of cleaning the device, and a method of operating the device are provided. The device includes a substrate having a first surface and a second surface located opposite the first surface. A nozzle plate is formed over the first surface of the substrate and has a nozzle through which fluid is ejected. A drop forming mechanism is situated at the periphery of the nozzle. A fluid chamber is in fluid communication with the nozzle and has a first wall and a second wall. The first wall and the second wall are positioned at an angle other than 90° relative to each other. A fluid delivery channel is formed in the substrate and extends from the second surface of the substrate to the fluid chamber. The fluid delivery channel is in fluid communication with the fluid chamber.

A continuous ink jet printhead and method are provided. The printhead includes an ink delivery channel. A plurality of nozzle bores are in fluid communication with the ink delivery channel. An individual obstruction is associated with each nozzle bore. Each individual obstruction is positioned in the ink delivery channel such that each obstruction creates a lateral flow pattern in ink continuously flowing through each of the plurality of nozzle bores as measured from a plane perpendicular to the plurality of nozzle bores.

A continuous ink jet printhead has a nozzle bore formed from a thin membrane that comprises an overhang from a relief portion of the substrate. The thin membrane of thickness t overhangs a relief portion of the substrate with a dimension OH. The nozzle bore has a respective diameter dimension D. The dimensions are characterized in that OH>=½ D; and wherein t

An apparatus for controlling errant ink drops in an inkjet printer having a plurality of nozzles for ejecting ink drops along a droplet trajectory and printing the ejected ink drops onto a receiver, including: at least one airflow channel arranged to provide a non-uniform airflow pattern located along a portion of the droplet trajectory, wherein the apparatus is in close proximity to the plurality of nozzles and prior to the receiver, such that the non-uniform airflow pattern provides compensation for errors in the printing of the ejected ink drops on the receiver and means for moving air in the airflow channel.

An ink jet print head is formed of a silicon substrate that includes an integrated circuit formed therein for controlling operation of the print head. The silicon substrate has one or more ink channels formed therein along the longitudinal direction of the noble array. An insulating layer or layers overlie the silicon substrate and has a series or an array of nozzle openings or bores formed therein along the length of the substrate and each nozzle opening communicates with an ink channel. The area comprising the nozzle openings forms a generally planar surface to facilitate maintenance of the printhead. A heater element is associated with each nozzle opening or bore for asymmetrically heating ink as ink passes through the nozzle opening or bore.

A continuous stream ink jet printer including a printhead having at least one nozzle or continuously ejecting a stream of ink droplets. A heater disposed adjacent to the nozzle thermally deflects selected ink droplets by asymmetrically heating the ink droplets to effect a printing operation. A cooling unit cools the ink provided to the printhead nozzle to increase the deflection angle of the droplets.
