Abstract:
A wireless access point that serves one or more wireless client devices in a wireless network determines that at least one particular client device that is associated to the wireless access point should not be associated to the wireless access point. The wireless access point transmits frames so that they are received at the particular client device with reduced strength so as to provoke the particular client device to transition from the wireless access point.
Abstract:
An access point is configured to control peer-to-peer wireless transmission in an area around the access point. The access point receives a message from a service providing device advertising a service. The access point receives another message from a service using device requesting the service. The access point determines whether the service using device or the service is prohibited in the area controlled by the access point. Responsive to a determination that the service using device is prohibited, the access point blocks the service using device from receiving the service. Responsive to a determination that the service is prohibited, the access point blocks the service providing device from providing the service.
Abstract:
Wireless transmissions from beacon devices are received at a plurality of receiver devices. The wireless transmissions comprise packets that carry information used for location-based services for mobile wireless devices. Content of one or more fields of the beacon packets received by one or more of the plurality of receiver devices is obtained. Measurement data associated with the transmissions received at the plurality of receiver devices is generated. Locations of the respective beacon devices are computed from the measurement data obtained by the plurality of receiver devices. Information identifying detected beacon devices and their locations are stored to maintain a location history of beacon devices over time locations. Changes from information contained in the location history are detected based on the locations computed for respective beacon devices from the measurement data and content of one or more fields of detected beacon packets.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a wireless access point that serves at least one client device in a wireless local area network transmits frames to the at least one client device so that the frames are received by the at least one client device with a receive signal strength so as to control the transmission of probe request messages by the at least one client device.
