Abstract:
The present invention relates to novel synthetic polysaccharides with antithrombotic activity, having at least one covalent bond with an amino chain, and to the preparation method thereof and to the therapeutic use thereof.
Abstract:
A deep water operations system includes a submersible vessel including a propulsion system for operating the vessel on and beneath the surface of a body of water. The vessel will operate on the water surface to travel to a designated site and then submerge beneath the surface to a depth sufficient to avoid surface wave and weather conditions. A surface power buoy is deployable from the vessel at the water surface and connected to the vessel by an umbilical cord and includes a propulsion system, RF vessel communication and a GPS receiver. An ROV launch cage is supported by the vessel by a second umbilical cord and stores and deploys an ROV remotely controlled from the vessel for deep water work and repair activities via the second umbilical cord.
Abstract:
The invention comprises a table, comprising: a) a base, the base being suitable for mounting in a vehicle, the base having a collar with one or more base pins along the interior of the collar; b) a pole, the pole being detachably coupled to the base, the pole having with one or more hockey-stick shaped slots at one end corresponding to and capable of receiving the base pins, a first lock/release mechanism for securing the pole to the base, and one or more apertures at an end opposite to the one end; and c) a table top, the table top being detachably coupled to the pillar, the top having a second lock/release mechanism for securing the top to the pillar, the second lock/release mechanism containing one or more elements which engage the one or more apertures on the pole, wherein the base, the pole and the table top combine to form the table.
Abstract:
A stored-value card includes a housing and a light circuit. The housing defines a first primary panel and a second primary panel spaced from the first primary panel. The first primary panel defines an account identifier signifying a financial account linked to the stored-value card. A side is defined between the first primary panel and the second primary panel. The light circuit includes a light and a switch and is generally enclosed within the housing but for the light. The light extends from the side of the housing and is configured to be illuminated upon application of a force to the switch. Stored-value card assemblies and methods of using a stored-value card are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A resource management system including a plurality of requester elements competing to access a resource through an arbiter element that controls access to the resource by the requester elements. A requester element having a buffer unit and first and second counters, which are compared to determine if a request having an identified priority type is in the buffer unit.

Abstract:
A stator and rotor assembly of a dynamoelectric machine wherein the stator core of the stator assembly includes a plurality of stator ring slots and the rotor assembly includes a plurality of rotor ring slots. The stator assembly further includes a conductor disposed in each stator ring slot having a plurality of full revolutions around the central axis of the stator core. The rotor assembly further including a rotor conductor disposed in each rotor ring slot having a plurality of full revolutions around the central axis of the rotor assembly. The stator core and rotor assembly both include tooth portions to direct the flux produced by the rotor conductor around the stator in the proper manner to induce the desired generated voltage in each stator conductor, thereby enabling each conductor to have the desired phase angle.
Abstract:
An apparatus for manufacturing a lens with a predetermined prescription from a number of lens molds, a gasket, and a source of a fluid material. The apparatus includes a device for selecting a first lens mold and a second lens mold based upon the prescription, a device for positioning the lens molds within the gasket, a device for inserting an amount of the fluid material within the gasket and between the molds, a device for curing the fluid material so as to form the lens, and a device for advancing the lens molds along a predetermined path through the selecting device, the positioning device, the fill device, and the cure device.
Abstract:
A back-lit LCD apparatus comprises a LCD (1), one or more LEDs (3) (or other light sources), and a plate-like light guide (2) behind the LCD (1). An attenuating member (5) is included in front or behind the light guide (5). In the former case the attenuating member (5) is formed as a sheet of reflective material on which is printed a pattern of non-reflective dots for reducing the intensity of light reaching portions of the LCD nearest to the light source. In the latter case the attenuating member (5) is transparent and the dots are either opaque or reflective. The size and frequency of the dots may be varied to adjust the level of attenuation. Also, the pattern of dots may be graduated to provide progressively less attenuation as the distance from the LEDs increases.
