Abstract: A dynamic seal assembly is disclosed for use in a valve having an upstream pressure side and a downstream pressure side, the dynamic seal assembly including an annular seal member having a generally C-shaped cross-section and including opposed upstream and downstream legs defining an internal cavity with an opening facing toward the upstream pressure side of the valve, wherein the upstream leg has a radial length that is greater than a radial length of the downstream leg and includes a retaining foot that extends angularly away from the upstream leg in an upstream direction at an angle of between about 0° and 90°, and a metallic spring is disposed within the internal cavity of the seal member for providing a constant sealing force to the seal member.

Abstract: A method of injecting fuel in a gas turbine engine includes injecting gaseous fuel from a gaseous fuel circuit of an injector in a first mode, wherein flow of gaseous fuel from the gaseous fuel circuit constricts air flow from an air circuit. The method includes injecting liquid fuel from a liquid fuel circuit in a second mode, idling flow in the gaseous fuel circuit and flowing air through the air circuit for passive purge to prevent liquid fuel from migrating into the gaseous fuel circuit. The method includes injecting a gaseous fuel that lies within a range of different Wobbe Index values, wherein regardless of where the gaseous fuel falls in the range, it does not prevent operation in the first and second modes as described above.

Abstract: An injector includes a housing including a fluid passage extending from an inlet of the housing to an outlet end of the housing. An actuator is mounted within the housing. A pintle extends along a longitudinal axis from an actuator end to a pintle head. The actuator end of the pintle is operatively connected to the actuator for actuation along the longitudinal axis. A tip member is mounted to the outlet end of the housing. The tip member includes an outlet orifice and a pintle seat. In a seated position of the pintle, the pintle head blocks flow to the outlet orifice. In an open position of the pintle, the pintle head allows flow. The pintle head includes a swirl passage therein, wherein the swirl passage is angled tangential relative to the longitudinal axis to induce swirl on flow passing between the pintle head and the pintle seat.

Abstract: A nozzle tip includes a nozzle tip body defining an upstream surface and an opposed downstream surface. An outlet orifice is defined through the nozzle tip body for fluid communication from a space upstream of the upstream surface to a space downstream of the downstream surface. The outlet orifice includes a cylindrical outlet portion defining an outlet axis, and a tapered inlet portion upstream of the outlet portion. The tapered inlet portion converges down towards the outlet axis in a direction from the upstream surface toward the downstream surface.

Abstract: In accordance with at least one aspect of this disclosure, a fuel injector can include an annular body defining a gas fuel inlet therein, and a structure extending radially outward from the annular body and configured to extend into an air circuit. The structure can include a gas channel defined within the structure at least partially along a radial length of the structure. The gas channel is in fluid communication with the gas fuel inlet where the structure meets the annular body. The structure also includes a slot opening defined at least partially along a radial length of the structure and configured to fluidically connect the gas channel and the air circuit to all gas fuel to effuse into the air circuit.
