Abstract: Peroxyformic acid compositions for removal of biofilm growth and other contaminants and impurities from industrial processing hard surfaces are disclosed. In particular, peroxyformic acid compositions may be dosed on site and/or generated in situ for the reduction and prevention of biofilms on the hard surfaces. Methods of employing the peroxyformic acid compositions for removal of biofilm growth and other impurities such as aldehydes and alcohols from industrial CO2 effluent are also disclosed which beneficially provide ambient biofilm control and break down more rapidly than other peracids, allowing for extended runs between CIP cleaning, including a reduction and/or elimination of cleaning of the scrubbers and other industrial surfaces.

Abstract: Low foaming, highly acidic peroxycarboxylic acid sanitizing compositions are disclosed as having both improved antimicrobial efficacy in comparison to conventional peroxyoctanoic acid and peroxyacetic acid compositions for sanitizing applications. The compositions include a combination of a low-foaming surfactant and an aluminum sulfate (or other metal salt) defoaming agent that is compatible with the highly acidic peroxycarboxylic acid sanitizing compositions. In particular, the sanitizing peroxycarboxylic acid compositions are also low odor and low/no VOC dual functioning acid wash and sanitizing compositions.

Abstract: Peroxycarboxylic acid compositions comprising compatible ionic compounds to deliver conductivity signals to enable monitoring of the peroxycarboxylic acid concentration by conductivity when diluted for use are disclosed. Methods of measuring peroxycarboxylic acid concentration by conductivity are also disclosed. Beneficially, conductivity measurement allows a user to determine concentration of the peroxycarboxylic acid at a point of use without cumbersome titration steps to determine the concentration providing various benefits at an application of use.

Abstract: A composition, method and kit for quantifying the concentration of one peracid or the total concentration of two or more peracids in a water source are disclosed. In particular, an oxidation sensitive or peroxycarboxylic acid selective leuco dye is used to react only with one or more peroxycarboxylic acids in a water source but not with peroxide usually co-existing in the water source. Not only does the oxidation sensitive or peroxycarboxylic acid selective leuco dye react with peracid(s) but also the reaction generates a color species that can be used visually or through absorbance measurement to quantify the peracid concentration. The method disclosed here is not a titration method, it involves a simple mixing step. The kit or composition disclosed here does not utilize a catalyst, such as iodine.

The sulfoperoxycarboxylic compounds of the invention are storage stable, water soluble and have low to no odor. Further, the compounds of the present invention can be formed from non-petroleum based renewable materials. The compounds of the present invention can be used as antimicrobials, and bleaching agents. Abstract: A disinfectant wipe is provided including a substrate that is substantially free of polyamides, and an acid anionic disinfectant is adsorbed to the substrate such that the disinfectant readily releases from the substrate to allow at least 65% delivery of the disinfectant when wiped on a surface. The substrate may be a woven, nonwoven, knit fabric, a foam, sponge or film composition and may be formed from polyester, polypropylene, nylon, cotton, rayon, acrylic, or combinations thereof. The acid anionic disinfectant has a pH below 7, below 5, below 3 and below 2. The substrate used to prepare the disinfectant wipe is not pretreated with the disinfectant or a release composition before applying the disinfectant. That is, the disinfectant is not applied and re-applied to ensure release onto a surface. In an embodiment of the invention acid anionic disinfectant is an antimicrobial agent.
