Abstract:
A power system model parameter conditioning tool including a server control processor in communication with phasor measurement unit monitored data records of multiple disturbance events, a model calibration unit providing event screening, power system model simulation, and simultaneous tuning of model parameters. The model calibration performing a simulation using default model parameters, the processor comparing the simulation results to the monitored data. If the prediction is within threshold, then terminating conditioning; else performing parameter identifiability analysis to determine differing effects of various model parameters on power system model accuracy, selecting a parameter set causing a degradation in power system model prediction, and updating the default model parameters corresponding to members of the parameter set with values selected to reduce the degradation. A method and a non-transitory computer readable medium are also disclosed.

Abstract:
An optimization-based method and system is disclosed to enable heterogeneous loads and distributed energy resources (DERs) to participate in grid ancillary services, such as spinning and non-spinning reserves, and ramping reserves. The method includes receiving inputs for decision parameters for optimizing an objective for obtaining flexible reserve power, solving the objective for obtaining flexible reserve power, determining a reserve power schedule for a prediction horizon for providing flexible reserve power based on the objective, generating a service bid based on the reserve power schedule for the power grid; and when the service bid is accepted, providing flexible reserve power to the power grid based on the service bid.
Abstract:
A microgrid system includes one or more power generators configured to provide electrical energy. The microgrid system also includes a localized distribution network coupled to the one or more power generators, coupled to the one or more loads, and coupled to an external grid. The microgrid system further includes a microgrid controller configured to predict microgrid demand for the one or more loads for a predetermined period of time. The microgrid controller is also configured to receive demand information for the external grid for the predetermined period of time. The microgrid controller is further configured to determine an operation plan for the one or more power generators based on the predicted microgrid demand and the received demand information. Moreover, the microgrid controller is configured to determine a schedule to transmit electrical energy to the external grid based on the operation plan.

Abstract:
In one aspect, a computer system for managing occurrences of data anomalies in a data stream is provided. The computer system includes a processor in communication with the data stream. The processor is programmed to receive a first data stream from a phasor measurement unit. The processor is also programmed to calculate at least one singular value associated with the first data stream. The processor is further programmed to detect a first data anomaly within the first data stream using the at least one singular value. The first data anomaly occurs during a first time segment. The processor is also programmed to indicate the first time segment as containing the first data anomaly.
