Abstract: A vehicle rearview mirror includes a substrate having a reflective surface and an actuation mechanism having a support unit coupled with the substrate. The actuation mechanism also has a mounting plate with a first end thereof rotatably coupled with the support unit. A toggle latch is rotatably coupled with mounting plate and alternately engages with the support unit in respective first and second positions. The second position corresponds with rotation of the support unit toward a second end of the mounting plate from the first position. The toggle latch is rotatable out of the first and second positions into a release position wherein the toggle latch is disengaged with the support unit. A toggle paddle is rotatably coupled with the mounting plate and is positioned adjacent the toggle latch to move the toggle latch into the release position by rotation of the of the toggle paddle.

Abstract: An electro-optic assembly includes a first substrate that has a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. A second substrate has a third surface and a fourth surface opposite the third surface. The second and third surfaces face each other to define a gap. A first electrode is coupled to the second surface and a second electrode is coupled to the third surface. An electro-optic medium is located between the first electrode and the second electrode. A concealment layer is located between the electro-optic medium and the first surface and a user interface defines a touch input sensor aligned with the concealment layer.

Abstract: A communication system for a vehicle for a vehicle includes a display device having a screen disposed in a passenger compartment. The display device is in communication with a user interface. The system further includes an authentication system having at least one scanning apparatus configured to capture a biometric data. A communication circuit is configured to communicate with a remote server. A controller is configured to capture the biometric data of a first potential passenger with the at least one scanning apparatus and access a first passenger information comprising a first identification profile from the remote server via the communication circuit. The controller is further configured to authenticate the first potential passenger as at least one of a confirmed passenger and an operator of the vehicle based on the identification profile.

Abstract: The disclosure provides for a scanning apparatus. The scanning apparatus may be disposed in a vehicle mirror assembly. The mirror assembly comprises an electrochromic element comprising a first substrate comprising a first surface and a second surface, and a second substrate comprising a third surface and a fourth surface. The mirror assembly further comprises an image sensor directed toward the fourth surface and configured to capture image data of an object through the electrochromic element. A light source is disposed proximate the fourth surface and configured to transmit an emission through the electrochromic element. The image sensor is configured to capture the image data to identify at least one passenger of the vehicle.

An electro-optic device includes a front substrate defining a first surface and a second surface. A rear substrate defines a third surface and a fourth surface. An electro-optic medium is disposed between the front substrate and the rear substrate. A peripheral seal contains the electro-optic medium between the front substrate and the rear substrate. An imager is adjacent the electro-optic device. A viewing window is disposed on an outboard corner of the electro-optic device. The imager is in optical communication with the viewing window.
