Abstract:
A vehicular accessory retention clip is used to attach a vehicular accessory, such as vehicular trim, to a vehicle. The vehicular accessory may have a substrate component that has at least one reinforcement post, and the vehicle may have a vehicular base component that has at least one corresponding opening configured to receive the reinforcement post. The retention clip has at least two walls that extend from an edge of a platform, each wall having an exterior tab and an interior tab configured to engage with the walls of the opening and the reinforcement post, respectively. The retention clip is slid onto the reinforcement post until the interior tabs engage with the reinforcement post, and the combination of the retention clip and reinforcement post is inserted until the exterior tabs engage with the walls of the opening.
Abstract:
Aspects of the disclosure include using piezoelectric devices to break laminated glass assemblies on demand (e.g., a windshield of a vehicle). An exemplary vehicle includes a laminated glass panel having an outer glass layer, an inner glass layer, and a bonding layer between the outer glass layer and the inner glass layer. The vehicle further includes a piezoelectric device including an actuator and a displaceable element coupled to the actuator. The actuator is made of a piezoelectric material that, responsive to receiving an activation voltage, induces a mechanical displacement in the displaceable element against at least one of the outer glass layer and the inner glass layer. The vehicle includes a controller electrically coupled to the actuator. The controller is configured to deliver the activation voltage to the actuator.
Abstract:
An imaging system for a vehicle including a cylindrical housing including a housing surface, the housing having a first end and a second end opposite the first end, an imaging sensor extending from the first end of the housing, the imaging sensor rotatable from a first position to a second position, a connection member coupled to the imaging sensor and enclosed within the housing, and a cap coupled to the housing at the second end, the cap including a cap surface having an alignment indicator. Rotation of the cap rotates the imaging sensor from the first position to the second position.
Abstract:
A number of variations may include a method that may include providing a glass substrate that may include a first surface and a second surface; disposing a ceramic frit that may include at least one bus bar and at least one grid line on the first surface to form a window assembly; bathing the window assembly in a first bath solution; and drying the window assembly.
Abstract:
Disclosed are vehicle sunroof assemblies with enhanced water management systems, methods for making/using such sunroof assemblies, and vehicles equipped with sunroof assemblies having sunshade water drainage backup capabilities. A representative sunroof assembly includes a frame that attaches to the body of a motor vehicle, positioned within an aperture in the vehicle's roof structure. A center panel is movably mounted to the frame, and operable to transition between open and closed positions to thereby obstruct and expose the aperture. Also attached to the frame is a drain channel that collects and expels fluids from the sunroof assembly. A sunshade is movably mounted to the frame adjacent the center panel. The sunshade manually or automatically transitions between deployed and stowed positions to thereby prevent and allow the passage of light through the roof's aperture. When in the deployed position, the sunshade repels water and directs the repelled water into the drain channel.
Abstract:
A vehicle includes a pane of glass and a flush mount washer assembly. The flush mount washer assembly includes a panel, and the panel includes an outer surface and an inner surface. The panel defines an aperture through the outer and inner surfaces. The assembly further includes a mount coupled to the inner surface of the panel. The assembly also includes a nozzle secured to the mount. The nozzle includes a show surface substantially aligning with the aperture and positioned such that the show surface does not extend beyond the outer surface of the panel to create a flush exterior appearance of the panel.
Abstract:
A system for a vehicle with a wheel housing includes a wheel well liner secured to the wheel housing and disposed in a wheel well defined by the wheel housing. The system further includes a heating element in contact with the wheel well liner and operable to heat the wheel well liner. A method of heating a wheel well liner includes determining whether an ambient temperature around the wheel well liner is less than a predetermined temperature, determining whether a weight of a load on the wheel well liner is greater than a predetermined weight, and activating a heating element in contact with the wheel well liner if the ambient temperature is less than the predetermined temperature and the weight on the wheel well liner is greater than the predetermined weight.
Abstract:
A vehicle glass assembly includes a glass pane of tempered glass, a frequency modulation (FM) antenna loop coupled to the glass pane and a first connector configured to provide a signal path to an FM radio tuner module. A second connector is coupled to the FM antenna loop to form an anti-theft loop in conjunction with the first connector. The first and second connectors are configured to provide signal paths to a security module.
Abstract:
A vehicle, an assembly for the vehicle and a method of assembling the vehicle are disclosed. The assembly includes a windshield and a panel disposed adjacent to the windshield. The assembly also includes a first retainer member secured to one of the windshield and the panel. Furthermore, the assembly includes a second retainer member secured to the other one of the windshield and the panel. Additionally, the assembly includes a third retainer member selectively attached to the first and second retainer members to selectively couple together the panel and the windshield.
