Abstract: An electric vehicle charging port includes a pair of charging pins each connected to a respective charging cable by a base. A pair of porous metallic cages surround the base of the pair of charging pins. A phase change material disposed in the pair of porous metallic cages and a vapor chamber is disposed between the base of the pair of charging pins and the pair of porous cage. The phase change material with an optional vapor chamber and high thermal conductivity (metal or graphite) foam or mesh to provide faster response of transient heat generation.

Abstract: A heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system for a vehicle having a rechargeable energy storage system includes a refrigerant circuit having a flow of refrigerant circulated therethrough. The refrigerant circuit includes a compressor, an internal condenser, and a chiller heat exchanger. A coolant circuit is fluidly connected to the refrigerant circuit and has a flow of coolant circulated therethrough. The coolant circuit includes the internal condenser, a heater core, and a rechargeable energy storage system (RESS). The refrigerant circuit and the coolant circuit exchange thermal energy at the internal condenser. When operated in an HVAC operating mode, the HVAC system is configured to heat one or more of the heater core and the RESS with thermal energy generated at the compressor.

Abstract: An automotive vehicle includes a body having fore and aft portions. The vehicle includes a bumper beam coupled to the vehicle body proximate the fore portion and a heat exchanger disposed aft of the bumper beam. A fascia assembly is coupled to the vehicle body and extends about the bumper beam. The fascia assembly includes a fascia inlet configured to direct an airflow from the exterior of the fascia assembly to the interior of the fascia assembly. An energy absorption member is disposed between the fascia and the bumper beam. An air passage extends through at least one of the bumper beam and the energy absorption member. The air passage extends from an air passage inlet to an air passage outlet. The air passage inlet is positioned downstream of the fascia inlet with respect to the airflow, and the air passage outlet being positioned upstream of the heat exchanger.
