Abstract:
There is disclosed is a mobile device for detecting, tracking, and translating motion into an image that can be rendered on a mobile device display. A motion sensor contained within the mobile device and coupled with a processor can detect and track motion in a two-dimensional plane. A motion selector button is disposed on the housing of the mobile device and coupled with the processor. The motion selector button actuates and de-actuates the motion sensor such that motion is only detected and motion data forwarded to the processor while the motion selector button is actuated. The mobile device further includes a display for rendering an image corresponding to the detected motion. The processor translates the captured motion data into a scaled two-dimensional image that is completely rendered on the mobile device display.
Abstract:
Methods for providing a group play list for a plurality of multimedia content records include associating respective ones of a plurality of users associated with a user network with corresponding ones of the multimedia content records on the group play list. A presence status of the respective ones of the users associated with the user network is detected. Rendering of the multimedia content records on the group play list to the users associated with the network is automatically adjusted based on the detected presence status. The user network may be, for example, a computer based social network.
Abstract:
Digital multimedia content having a rights object associated therewith may be shared between multiple devices. A first device includes digital multimedia content and an associated rights object therein. Biometric user data is obtained at the first device via a biometric sensor associated therewith and is combined with the rights object to provide a user-specific rights object. The multimedia content and the user-specific rights object are loaded onto a second device. Biometric user data is obtained at the second device via a biometric sensor associated therewith and is combined with the user-specific rights object to provide the rights object at the second device. The digital multimedia content is rendered on the second device using the rights object.
Abstract:
A mobile device having first and second modes of operation is operated responsive to detection of a predefined localized movement of a housing of the mobile device using a sensor associated therewith. The detected predefined localized movement is associated with first and second functions of the mobile device responsive to a user input assigning the detected predefined localized movement thereto. A first device function is performed responsive to detection of the predefined localized movement in the first mode of operation, and a second device function is performed responsive to detection of the predefined localized movement in the second mode of operation. A predetermined delay time may also be associated with the predefined localized movement, and the first and/or second functions may be performed at the predetermined delay time after detecting the predefined localized movement.
Abstract:
A hand-held wireless communications device, for example, a cellular telephone, comprises a housing, a microphone to capture a user's voice, a camera to capture images and/or video, a transceiver to communicate with a remote party in a half-duplex mode, and a push-to-talk actuator. A controller detects an operational state of the push-to-talk actuator, and activates the microphone, the camera, and the transceiver based on the operational state.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a system, method, and computer readable medium for creating and managing a category based list in a mobile communications device. A category with an assigned category name and a list with an assigned list name associated with a category name are created in the mobile communications device. A set of parameters governing the list is then defined. The set of parameters can include a list expiration date, a group access parameter, group user identifiers, privileges that group users will have with respect to the list, and a check-out time parameter indicating how long a group user can maintain exclusive access to the list. List item can include text items, audio items, video, multimedia, and picture items. Items can be added to lists manually, via a received message or copied from another application. In addition, a list can be checked out for editing by a group user.
Abstract:
A system, method, and computer program product is disclosed for tagging a media/multimedia file created by a device possessing an RFID transponder tag reader with RFID transponder tag content data. The RFID transponder tag reader equipped device creates a media/multimedia file and determines whether a data containing RFID transponder tag is present and within range of the RFID transponder tag reader. If so, a connection is established between the data containing RFID transponder tag and the RFID transponder tag reader such that the data from the RFID transponder tag is received via the RFID transponder tag reader. The received data is then attached to the media/multimedia file to create a tagged media/multimedia file.
Abstract:
A portable communication device includes a first push-to-talk (PTT) actuator, a second PTT actuator and a PTT processor in operative communication with the first PTT actuator and the second PTT actuator. The PTT processor requests control of a PTT communication floor in response to user actuation of the first PTT actuator, and triggers a secondary action to be performed while having control of the PTT communication floor in response to user actuation of the second PTT actuator. The portable communication device includes enhanced user control and interface options for PTT communication sessions.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for providing an improved user interface for a wireless communication device is described herein. The wireless communication device comprises a main body including a first user interface, and a movable cover including a second user interface. When the movable cover is closed relative to the main body, the movable cover conceals at least a portion of the first user interface. To provide some of the functionality associated with the first user interface without having to open the movable cover, the present invention maps a soft key associated with the second user interface to a function assigned to a selected control or key of the first user interface.
