Abstract:
An arrangement for correcting registration during guiding of sheets in a multi-color rotary sheet printing press including a plurality of printing units, each having a printing cylinder, a transfer cylinder connected between printing cylinders of two adjacent printing units for transfer sheets between the printing units, and a plurality of gear drives for driving the printing and transfer cylinders, includes a plurality of adjusting devices arranged within gear drives. Each adjusting device has two conical sleeves fixedly mounted within a gear drive, two conical bushings cooperating with the two conical sleeves, and an adjusting spindle for supporting the two conical bushings for linear displacement toward and away from each other.
Abstract:
A method of automatically adjusting a printing machine which is selectively operatable in a single-side printing mode and in a two-side printing mode and includes a sheet turning drum, gripper systems and controls therefor, and a ring gear, comprises, during the adjustment from the single-side printing mode to the two-side printing mode and commencing from a first initial position, the succession of steps of adjusting the angular position of the sheet turning drum, adjusting the gripper system controls, and adjusting the angular position of the ring gear, including releasing, angularly displacing, and engaging the ring gear; and during the adjustment from the two-side printing mode to the single-side printing mode and commencing from the first initial position, the succession of steps of adjusting the angular position of the ring gear, including releasing, angularly displacing, and engaging the ring gear, adjusting the gripper systems controls, and adjusting the angular position of the sheet turning drum. The arrangement of the present invention includes various devices which are capable of performing the above method and of issuing various signals including feedback signals, and also of processing such signals in such a manner that, in the event of lack of completion of any step, at least that step is repeated from the beginning.
Abstract:
A printing machine has a plurality of printing stations which print images on both major surfaces of each sheet passing through the printing machine. A reversing arrangement turns the respective sheet between two of the printing stations so that the major surface of the respective sheet having a fresh image thereon faces downwardly. A support arrangement is provided which supports this sheet during its advancement to the next following printing station, and includes a blow casing having upwardly oriented passages through which air issues in upward direction to create an air cushion between the respective sheet and the blow casing for supporting the respective sheet during its advancement. An elongated bracket is arranged upwardly of the blow casing and supports a region of the respective sheet which is devoid of the image, during the advancement of the sheet in a path portion located upwardly of the blow casing. The position of the bracket in the transverse direction of the machine is adjustable by means of a drive and a transmission which includes a transmission shaft having several sections interconnected by an elastic coupling. The blow casing is curved, and the number of the apertures per unit area within the curved portion and within the lateral portions of the blow casing exceeds that without such portions.
