Abstract: A rear portal trailing arm assembly for a vehicle rear suspension that includes a CV joint hub for coupling with a transaxle and a wheel hub for coupling with a rear wheel. A gear transfer case extends rearward from the CV joint hub to an axle case and functions similarly to a rear trailing arm. Forward mounts facilitate coupling the gear transfer case to the chassis such that the trailing arm assembly pivots vertically with respect to the chassis. A rearward mount facilitates coupling a strut with the gear transfer case to control the vertical motion of the rear wheel. Multiple gear assemblies are meshed within the gear transfer case. An axle is coupled with the meshed gear assemblies and housed within the axle case, such that torque applied to the CV joint hub is communicated to the wheel hub.

Abstract: A rotary electric machine is disposed coaxially with an input member and is disposed more toward a first side in an axial direction than a first gear that meshes with a second gear. A third gear that rotates integrally with second and fourth gears that mesh with third gear are disposed more toward second side in axial direction than first and second gears. An axis of a counter gear mechanism is disposed below both axis of rotary electric machine and axis of differential gear mechanism. An inverter device is disposed more toward first side in axial direction than fourth gear and above axis of differential gear mechanism while being disposed at such position that inverter device overlaps fourth gear as seen in axial direction. A specific portion of inverter device is disposed between rotary electric machine and fourth gear in axial direction, at such position that specific portion overlaps counter gear mechanism as seen in up-down direction and overlaps rotary electric machine as seen in axial direction.

Abstract: An apparatus and methods are provided for a portal spindle assembly for a vehicle front suspension. The portal spindle assembly comprises a spindle portion that is rotatably coupled with upper and lower connecting arms. A leading-edge portion is rotatably coupled with a steering rod-end joint, such that moving the steering rod-end joint rotates the spindle assembly with respect to the upper and lower connecting arms. An inboard case and an outboard case support a pinion gear assembly that is meshed with an output gear assembly for communicating torque from a constant velocity joint to a front wheel coupled to the output gear assembly. The pinion gear assembly is aligned along a pinion axis disposed at an angle with respect to a hub axis of the output gear assembly. The angle facilitates a suspension geometry that provides a camber change of the front wheel that eliminates a change in track width.
