Abstract: Apparatus to produce a three-dimensional object and methods of producing a three-dimensional object are described. In some examples, a first fluid comprising a colorant and a second fluid comprising an absorber to absorb electromagnetic radiation are applied on a layer of particulate material. Application of the second fluid to the layer of particulate material is in dependence on an ability of the first fluid to absorb the electromagnetic radiation.

Abstract: According to one aspect there is provided an apparatus for generating a three-dimensional object. The apparatus may include a first agent distributor to selectively deliver a coalescing agent onto portions of a layer of build material, a second agent distributor to selectively deliver a coalescence modifier agent onto portions of the layer of build material, and a controller to control the first and second distributors to selectively deliver each of the agent and the coalescence modifier onto the layer of build material in respective patterns derived from data representing a slice of a three-dimensional object to be generated, in which when energy is applied to the layer of build material, the build material coalesces and solidifies to form a slice of the three-dimensional object in accordance the patterns and the three-dimensional object has mechanical object properties that are related to the patterns.

Abstract: Provided in one example herein is a three-dimensional printing method, comprising: (A) forming a layer comprising particles comprising a polymer and cavities between the particles, wherein the particles have an average diameter of between about 5 μm and about 250 μm; (B) disposing a liquid suspension over at least a portion of the layer such that the liquid suspension infiltrates into the cavities, wherein the liquid suspension comprises a radiation-absorbing coalescent agent and nanoparticles having an average diameter of less than or equal to about 500 nm; (C) forming an object slice by exposing the infiltrated layer to a radiant energy, wherein the object slice comprises a polymeric matrix comprising the polymeric particles, at least some of which are fused to one another, and the nanoparticles within the polymeric matrix; and (D) repeating (A) to (C) to form the three-dimensional object comprising multiple object slices bound depth-wise to one another.

Abstract: In an example, a method includes forming, at an additive manufacturing apparatus, a first layer of build material to be processed in the generation of an object. A print agent is selectively applied onto the first layer based on a first print instruction associated with the first layer. Energy is applied to the first layer to cause fusion in a region of the first layer. The method further comprises: measuring the temperature of the first layer at a plurality of locations to form a measured temperature distribution profile; comparing the measured temperature distribution profile against a predicted temperature distribution profile to generate a difference; and correcting a temperature distribution profile of a subsequent layer of the build material following fusion of the subsequent layer based on the difference by modifying a second print instruction associated with the subsequent layer.
