Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an Inkjet printing process that comprises inkjet printing an inkjet ink composition onto a substrate to form a printed inkjet ink layer. The inkjet ink composition comprises a colorant, a curable polyurethane dispersion, a photoinitiator and water, wherein the amount of curable polyurethane dispersed in the inkjet ink composition is 0.1 to 30 weight %. A radiation-curable overcoat composition is applied over the printed inkjet ink layer as an overcoat layer. The overcoat composition comprises a curable polyurethane dispersion, a photoinitiator and water. The printed inkjet ink layer is then cured on the substrate by exposing both the overcoat layer and inkjet ink layer on the substrate to radiation.

Abstract: The present disclosure is drawn to a coated print medium, a method of preparing a print medium, and a printing system. The coated print medium can comprise a substrate and a coating applied to the substrate. The coating can comprise, by dry weight percent, 5 wt % to 30 wt % of a polymeric binder, 20 wt % to 50 wt % of a cationic latex, 5 wt % to 15 wt % of a multivalent cationic salt, and 1 wt % to 20 wt % of an optical brightener; and 5 wt % to 20 wt % of a cationic polyamine.

Abstract: The present disclosure is drawn to primer compositions, which can include a polyvinyl alcohol, a cationic salt, and water. The polyvinyl alcohol can have a weight average molecular weight from about 50,000 Mw to about 250,000 Mw. The cationic salt can be present in an amount of at least 15 wt % of all dry components of the primer composition. The polyvinyl alcohol and cationic salt together can make up at least 30 wt % of all dry components of the primer composition.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides recording media and methods. In one example, a light weight media sheet for high speed printing can comprise a paper substrate having a basis weight of less than 100 gsm; a first flatness control layer applied directly to a first side of the paper substrate, the first flatness control layer having a coating weight from 1 to 15 gsm, wherein the first flatness control layer comprises a polymer selected from the group consisting of a polyvinyl alcohol, a polyamide, a polyimide, a polyethylene oxide, a polyvinyl pyrrolidone, a cellulose, a starch, an acrylate, copolymers thereof, and mixtures thereof; and a first ink-receiving layer applied directly to the first flatness control layer, the first ink-receiving layer having a coating weight from 1 to 40 gsm, where the light weight media sheet has a total basis weight from 40 to 150 gsm.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides pre-treatment compositions and related methods. As such, a pre-treatment coating for a print medium can include an evaporable solvent, a matrix, and a wax. The matrix can include from 50 wt % to 80 wt % of a fixer and from 5 wt % to 20 wt % of a low Tg latex. The wax can be present at from 5 wt % to 30 wt %. The weight percentages of the matrix and the wax are based on a total amount present in the pre-treatment coating after removal of the solvent.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an inkjet printing process that comprises applying a radiation-curable primer composition onto a substrate to form a primer layer. The primer composition comprises a curable polyurethane dispersion, a photoinitiator and water. An inkjet ink composition is inkjet printed onto the primer layer as a printed inkjet ink layer. The inkjet ink composition comprises a colorant, a curable polyurethane dispersion, a photoinitiator and water. The curable polyurethane is dispersed in the inkjet ink composition in an amount of composition is 0.1 to 30 weight % of the inkjet ink composition. The printed inkjet ink layer is cured on the substrate by exposing both the primer layer and printed inkjet ink layer on the substrate to radiation.
