Abstract: A touch screen controller for an aircraft and a method for operating the same are provided. The method, for example, may include, but is not limited to, receiving, by a core interface in a first core of a touch screen controller, a data or service request for a flight management system from a second core of a touch screen controller, validating, by the core interface, the received data or service request for the flight management system, wherein the data or service request is validated when the applications executing on the first core are idle, a flight phase of the aircraft matches a flight phase associated with the application executing on the second core, and the data or service request is within aircraft performance limits and operational limits.

Abstract: Improved systems and methods for the evaluation of runway changes that analyze the effect of the runway change on relevant factors, and provide intuitive visual feedback of the analysis, are provided. The provided systems and methods depict the original runway and the new runway, side by side, in a pictorial representation. Additionally, a selectable group of relevant factors for each runway is determined. The pictorial representation is overlaid with one or more symbolic indicators that distinctly demark each of the factors, alphanumeric descriptors may also be displayed alongside the symbolic indicators. The provided systems and methods additionally generate a tabular display of the information and factors. The tabular display provides a side by side comparison of the old runway, the new runway, and the relevant factors.

Abstract: A system for integrating flight crew decision aid applications in an aircraft cockpit includes a touch screen controller (TSC) that comprises a data mining engine configured to mine aircraft data from the already existing avionics interface and a flight plan and trajectory generating engine (FPTGE) configured to retrieve a trajectory request from a requesting flight crew decision aid application, compute one or more theoretical trajectories using the mined aircraft data, and transmit the one or more theoretical trajectories to the requesting flight crew decision aid application. The TSC also comprises a flight crew decision aid application configured to receive a flight crew request for simulated data from a touch screen user interface, generate and transmit one or more requested trajectory requests to the FPTGE, receive data from the one or more theoretical trajectories from the FPTGE, and display the requested simulated data on the touch screen user interface.

Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling a flight deck multifunction control display unit are disclosed. In various embodiments, the systems may comprise a flight management system or other MCDU driven devices, a command database that stores a plurality of voice commands and a plurality of multifunction control display unit commands. In various embodiments, each voice command is associated with one of the plurality of multifunction control display unit commands. The systems may further comprise a pilot voice interface configured to receive a voice command from a pilot and transmit the voice command to the multifunction control display unit. The multifunction control display unit can receive the voice command from the pilot voice interface and, in response, access the command database to identify a multifunction control display unit command in the command database that is associated with the voice command.

Abstract: Methods and systems for a flight display system are provided. The method includes: commanding a vertical situation display (VSD) and a lateral navigation display (ND) to render, concurrently, a viewing segment of a flight plan. The method includes receiving a user input selecting a section of the viewing segment, the user input being received on only one of the VSD and the ND. The method continues by commanding, concurrently, the VSD and the ND to visually distinguish the section, and to demark the section on the VSD with starting points and ending points. The method identifies a flight parameter, and for the flight parameter, includes (a) determining which display, among the VSD and the ND, is appropriate for the rendering of flight parameter information; (b) generating flight parameter information based on (a); and (c) overlaying the flight parameter information on the appropriate display.
