Abstract: A method for instantiating an edge application server and an apparatus. A first network element receives first information from a second network element. The first information includes network information and application information. The network information indicates a first network, and the application information indicates a first application. The first information further includes information about a first event that is related to the first application and that is in the first network. The first event is that an edge application server corresponding to the first application is not found in the first network. The first network element determines, in response to the first event meeting a first condition, to instantiate a first edge application server corresponding to the first application in the first network.

Abstract: The technology of this application relates to a method and an apparatus for obtaining an edge service. The method includes, if a first edge configuration server (ECS) determines that an edge enabler server (EES) managed by the first ECS cannot provide an edge service to a terminal device, the first ECS obtains information about a second ECS. The first ECS sends first information to a first device, where the first information includes information about a first EES or the information about the second ECS, and the first EES is an EES managed by the second ECS. According to the method and the apparatus provided in this application, an edge service can be obtained when configuration information of an ECS changes or a terminal device is in a roaming scenario.

Abstract: Embodiments of the application disclose a session connection establishment method and a control plane network element, to select a proper user plane network element from a plurality of distributed user plane network elements for a terminal device that requests a service. In one embodiment, the control plane network element may determine a first user plane network element set from a plurality of distributed user plane network elements based on a service, to select, from the first user plane network element set, a first target user plane network element that supports the service, and establish a session connection of a terminal device. According to the embodiment, a proper user plane network element can be selected from a plurality of distributed user plane network elements for a terminal device that requests a service, thereby improving working efficiency when the control plane network element establishes a session connection of the terminal device.
