    Abstract: A three-dimensional tooth profile of internal teeth in a strain wave gearing is a basic internal-teeth tooth profile at an internal-teeth outer end, and is a reduced tooth profile, in which the basic internal-teeth tooth profile is proportionally reduced only in the lateral direction, at other tooth-trace-direction positions. A three-dimensional tooth profile of external teeth is a basic external-teeth tooth profile at an external-teeth outer end, and is an increased tooth profile, in which the basic external-teeth tooth profile is proportionally increased only in the lateral direction, at other tooth-trace-direction positions. Tooth cutting process becomes easier than when only the external teeth employ a three-dimensional tooth profile. Since the tooth profiles, which are proportionally reduced and increased only in the lateral direction along the tooth trace direction, are employed, it is further easier in tooth cutting process.

    Abstract: In a unit-type strain wave gearing, a rotating-side member, which is constituted by a second internally toothed gear and an output shaft is supported, via a first sliding bearing and a second sliding bearing, on a fixed-side member so as to be capable of relative rotation, the fixed-side member being constituted by a unit housing and a first internally toothed gear. Sliding bearing surfaces of the first sliding bearing and sliding bearing surfaces of the second sliding bearing are defined by a conic surface having a central axis line as a center line. It is possible to realize a unit-type strain wave gearing which is advantageous in making smaller and more compact than when a roller bearing is used. It is also easier to adjust the gap between the sliding bearing surfaces because a radial sliding bearing having no function to adjust the radial gap is obviated.

    Abstract: A rotary actuator has a hollow motor and hollow reduction gears arranged coaxially on either side of the hollow motor. A rotary shaft is arranged so as to pass through a hollow motor shaft of the hollow motor. The hollow reduction gears have hollow input shafts connected to the shaft ends on either sides of the hollow motor shaft. The hollow reduction gears have hollow output shafts connected to sections of the rotary shaft protruding from both ends of the hollow motor shaft. The connection position of the hollow output shaft with respect to the rotary shaft can be adjusted in the rotational direction. A load is rotationally driven by the rotary shaft. By increasing the axial length of the hollow motor, it is possible to obtain a small-diameter rotary actuator having a rotational output with large torque.

    Abstract: An externally toothed gear of a dual-type strain wave gearing is provided with first and second external teeth having different teeth numbers, and is flexed into an ellipsoidal shape by a wave generator. When the theoretical values of the radial flexing amounts at major-axis positions of the first and second external teeth flexed into the ellipsoidal shape are expressed by d1=m1n1 and d2=m2n2 (m1 and m2 represent the modules of the first and second external teeth, and n1 and n2 represent positive integers), the radial flexing amounts of the first and second external teeth flexed by the wave generator satisfy d1a=ωd1 and d2a=ωd2, where 1.25≤ω≤3. Accordingly, a dual-type strain wave gearing can be achieved with which the first and second external teeth having different numbers can be suitably flexed to form excellent mating states with respective internally toothed gears.

    Abstract: An externally toothed gear of a dual-type strain wave gearing is provided with first and second external teeth having different teeth numbers. The first and second external teeth are flexed by a wave generator by the same flexing amount, into an ellipsoidal shape. The tooth depth of tooth profiles of the first external teeth having a low teeth number is smaller than the tooth depth of tooth profiles of the second external teeth having a high teeth number. A dual-type strain wave gearing can be achieved with which the first and second external teeth having different teeth numbers can be suitably flexed to form excellent meshing states with respective internally toothed gears.

    Abstract: A flat strain wave gearing device equipped with: a first internal gear and a second internal gear; a flexible tubular external gear; and an elliptically shaped wave generator. In the direction of a central axis, the center of support of the external teeth by the wave generator is offset, by an offset amount of Δ along the direction of the central axis, with respect to the tooth-width center of the external teeth of the external gear. By setting the offset direction and the offset amount appropriately it is possible to achieve a strain wave gearing device which is suitable in terms of the operating conditions and the mechanical characteristics of the first and second internal gears.

    Abstract: A wave generator of a strain wave gearing has a plug, a wave generator bearing mounted to an outer peripheral surface of the plug, an input shaft protruding from the center of the plug to a first side running along a center axis, and a bearing arrangement on which a support bearing supporting the input shaft is arranged. Relative to an outer ring end surface of the wave generator bearing that faces the first side, a center-side plug end surface of a plug end surface facing the same direction is in a position withdrawn from the first side toward the opposite direction. The bearing arrangement is provided between the center-side plug end surface and the outer ring end surface encircling the input shaft. The input shaft can be fitted within the width dimension of the wave generator, and a strain wave gearing having a short axial length can be achieved.

    Abstract: A wave generator of a strain wave gearing has a rigid plug and a needle roller bearing mounted on the plug external peripheral surface. The plug external peripheral surface has a retainer engaging part for engaging with a retainer that would move in an axis line direction and for restricting the movement thereof along the axis line direction. The retainer has an outer ring engaging part for engaging with an outer ring that would move in the axis line direction and for restricting the movement thereof along the axis line direction. The movements of the retainer and the outer ring can be restricted without providing a separate member. A wave generator of a strain way gearing can be realized, which is provided with a roller bearing capable of restricting the movement of the outer ring with a simple structure.

    Abstract: A first shaft end of a hollow shaft of a hollow strain wave gearing is supported by a first support bearing with a collar interposed therebetween which is mounted to the outer-circumferential surface of the first shaft end. A second shaft end on the other end of the hollow shaft is supported by a second support bearing. A wave plug of a wave generator is integrally formed with the hollow shaft, and a wave bearing is mounted on the elliptical outer-circumferential surface thereof from the first-shaft-end side. It is possible to use a first support bearing having an inner diameter larger than the outer diameter of the first shaft end as the first support bearing for supporting the first shaft end.
