摘要： An optical recording/reproducing apparatus comprises: a light receiving and emitting device that emits divergent optical beams and detects various signals on a disk; a collimator lens for converting the optical beams emitted from the device into parallel beams; an objective lens for converging the optical beams of the parallel beams onto the disk; and an objective-lens drive for driving the objective lens in a focusing direction perpendicular to a recording surface of the disk and in a radial direction parallel to the recording surface. The objective-lens drive is supported by suspensions attached at one end to a lens holder for holding the objective lens and to a fixing member at their other ends. The collimator lens is positioned between the objective lens and the fixing member. Thus, the optical recording/reproducing apparatus can be reduced in size and can improve the strength of the suspensions for supporting the objective-lens drive against disturbance vibration or impact caused when the optical recording/reproducing apparatus is dropped.

摘要： An optical disc clamp mechanism that is capable of selectively playing back either of a compact disc or a mini disc. The clamp mechanism includes a circular disc receiving section for contacting a reference surface of either of the compact disc or the mini disc and further includes a magnetic clamp unit for clamping the mini disc by magnetic attraction with a magnetically attractable member of the mini disc. A first conical or spherical taper cone portion for engaging the center hole of the mini disc is mounted to the disc receiving section and a second conical or spherical taper cone portion for engaging the center hole of the compact disc is mounted to the disc receiving section. The first taper cone portion is located inwardly of the second taper cone portion and protrudes from the second taper cone portion in the axial direction. The magnetic clamp unit further includes a stopper element for preventing detachment of the first and second taper cone portions from the disc receiving section. Accordingly, the optical disc clamp mechanism independently affects the centering of a mini disc and a compact disc to allow either of the discs to be centered.

The adapter is a disc which has a hole having the same inner diameter as that of the centering hole of the MD and a thickness of 0.8 mm, the adapter to be attached to the CD. A first optical disc apparatus has an MD spindle motor and a CD spindle motor, and an optical system including an objective lens is arranged on a Straight line that connects both the spindle motors. A second optical disc apparatus has a spindle motor having an MD turntable and a CD turntable at both its ends.

A light exiting-surface of the light flux separation element from which the second light flux comes out is laminated to a light incident-surface of the light-receiving element on which the second light flux is incident via an adhesive layer. It is thus possible to adjust a quantity of light at a higher degree of accuracy and higher sensitivity while achieving a significant reduction of the optical head in size.

摘要： An optical head and a disk recording and reproducing apparatus using the same. The optical head can realize a stable recording and reproducing with less cross-talk and can be made small and thin by making the objective lens to be small and thin. The optical head includes an optical system including a light source having astigmatic difference and an objective lens that forms an optical spot on an information recording medium. The optical system has optical properties in that the optical spot has an initial astigmatism on the design optical axis, the direction of the initial astigmatism is a direction in which a back-side line focus is substantially perpendicular to the radial direction of the information recording medium, and astigmatism is generated in the direction in which the initial astigmatism of the optical spot is reduced as the objective lens moves in the direction in which the objective lens is more distant from the design optical axis in the radial direction. The direction of astigmatism of the optical spot formed by the objective lens is a direction in which a back-side line focus is substantially perpendicular to the radial direction in the radial direction movement range of the objective lens.

The optical head includes: a laser diode which emits light toward an optical disk; a photodiode which is disposed in the same housing as the laser diode; a light-turning mirror which reflects and deflects the light emitted from the laser diode; a light-raising mirror which reflects and deflects the light reflected by the light-turning mirror in the direction of the optical disk; an objective lens that converges the light reflected by the light-raising mirror onto the optical disk; and a hologram element which allows the light reflected by the optical disk to branch off and reach the photodiode, in which at least a part of the light-turning mirror is disposed inside of the window portion of a cartridge which houses the optical disk.

The apparatus body further includes: a drive-portion cover which is movable in a bottom direction of the apparatus body and inserts and ejects the disk medium into and from the disk drive portion; and a lock hook and a cover hook locking the disk medium housed in the apparatus body. A locking state of the lock hook and the cover hook is kept when the lid body is in the open state with respect to the apparatus body.
