    摘要: An active-matrix substrate has a layered structure in which an upper region including a plurality of pixel electrodes arranged in a matrix and a lower region including a plurality of thin film transistors for driving the individual pixel electrodes are overlapped on each other. A planarization layer is interposed between both of the substrates. An active-matrix liquid crystal display device includes a main substrate and a facing substrate which are disposed to face to each other at a specified interval. A liquid crystal layer having a specified thickness is held between both of the substrates. A device bus line area including a plurality of thin film transistor devices and bus lines is formed on the surface of the main substrate. A planarization layer is formed to embed the irregularities on the surface of the device bus line area. Pixel electrodes in a matrix are formed on the flat surface of the planarization layer. An interval dimension between the adjacent pixel electrodes is set to be larger than a thickness dimension B of the liquid crystal layer, so that the subsidiary lateral electric field is made smaller than the normal vertical electric field.

    摘要: A liquid crystal panel has a liquid crystal layer of liquid crystal molecules sealed between a pair of substrates having alignment films thereon. Each of the films includes first and second deposited layers, each of the layers being formed of an inorganic material by oblique deposition. The second layer is stacked on top of the first layer such that the deposited molecules of the first layer are aligned substantially perpendicular to the orientation of the deposited molecules of the second layer. The first layer is formed by oblique deposition at an oblique angle of about 60° relative to the normal of the substrate surface to align the liquid crystal molecules perpendicular to the deposited molecules. The second layer is formed by oblique deposition at an oblique angle of about 85° relative to the normal of the substrate surface to align the liquid crystal molecules parallel to the deposited molecules.

    摘要: A transmission type display includes a thin film transistor for driving a pixel electrode, which transistor is provided on a substrate, and a conductive shield layer provided at a position over the thin film transistor and under the pixel electrode. A first planarization film is formed to bury an irregular contour of the thin film transistor and the shield layer is disposed on the planarized surface of the first planarization film, and a second planarization film is formed to bury steps of the shield layer, and the pixel electrode is disposed on the planarized surface of the second planarization film. Since the transmission type display has the structure in which the conductive shield layer is put between the upper second planarization film and the lower first planarization film each of which is made from an insulating material, the shielding performance and the alignment characteristic of the display can be improved.

    摘要: The present invention provides a thin-film semiconductor device suitable for an areal-pressure-distribution detector and the like. The thin-film semiconductor device according to the present invention comprises an insulating substrate 1, and element regions R being integrated and arranged on the substrate in the form of a matrix and each including a set of mutually connected electrode 2 and thin-film transistor 3. Each electrode 2 senses a signal voltage applied from above the element region R. Meanwhile, the thin-film transistor 3 are on/off-controlled in order and detect the signal voltage applied to the corresponding electrodes 2. In each element region, the surface level H1 of the sensitive region SR where the major part of the electrode 2 is formed is higher by .DELTA.H than the surface level H2 of the non-sensitive region NSR where the corresponding thin-film transistor 3 and a wiring pattern 9 are formed.

    摘要: A color display device such as an active-matrix type liquid crystal display apparatus has a first substrate having pixel electrodes arranged in the form of the matrix, switching elements associated with respective pixel electrodes and color filters aligned with the respective pixel electrodes. The first substrate is composed of a laminate structure including, superposed in the mentioned sequence, a first layer having the switching elements, a second layer having the color filters, a third layer including a planarization film which fills convexities presented by the switching elements and the color filters, and a fourth layer having the pixel electrodes aligned with the color filter. The display device also has a second substrate including a counter electrode and adjoined to the first substrate leaving a predetermined gap left therebetween. A liquid crystal is charged in the gap between the first and second substrates.
