Abstract: Embodiments of this application relate to the video coding and compression field, and disclose an encoding method and apparatus, and a decoding method and apparatus, to resolve a problem that an existing split mode cannot satisfy a relatively complex texture requirement. The decoding method specifically includes: parsing a bitstream to determine a basic split mode for a current to-be-decoded picture block and a target derivation mode for a subpicture block of the current to-be-decoded picture block; splitting the current to-be-decoded picture block into N subpicture blocks in the basic split mode, where N is an integer greater than or equal to 2; deriving one derived picture block from at least two adjacent subpicture blocks in the N subpicture blocks in the target derivation mode; and decoding the derived picture block.

Abstract: A video decoding method includes obtaining an index of predicted motion information of a current image block in a candidate predicted motion information list, where the predicted motion information includes reference image information and a motion vector prediction value, and candidate predicted motion information in the candidate predicted motion information list is motion information of an adjacent block of the current image block in time domain or space domain, querying the candidate predicted motion information list based on the index, and using the found candidate predicted motion information as the predicted motion information, determining a correspondence between a motion vector difference and a motion vector prediction value based on the predicted motion information, and obtaining the motion vector difference from the bitstream, and adding the motion vector prediction value and the corresponding motion vector difference based on the correspondence to obtain a motion vector of the current image block.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus and for intra prediction of a picture block are provided, to provide a manner of predicting a current block by using spatial non-adjacent blocks or a temporal neighboring block, thereby improving coding performance. In various embodiments, a first luma intra mode set is constructed; and a bitstream is parsed to obtain a first identifier. In those embodiments, when the first identifier indicates that a luma prediction mode of the current block belongs to the first luma intra mode set, the bitstream is parsed to obtain a second identifier. The second identifier indicates that a candidate luma prediction mode in the first luma intra mode set is used as the luma prediction mode of the current block. Still in those embodiments, a luma prediction value of the current block is obtained based on the luma prediction mode of the current block.

Abstract: A method for decoding an intra-frame prediction mode includes determining a first mode set comprising intra-frame prediction modes of available neighborhood reconstruction units in preset positions of the current to-be-decoded unit and at least one non-directional prediction mode, and parsing the bitstream to obtain a second identifier used to indicate a candidate intra-frame prediction mode in the first mode set that is used as the intra-frame prediction mode of the current to-be-decoded unit, and a codeword length of the second identifier indicating one of the at least one non-directional prediction mode as the intra-frame prediction mode of the current to-be-decoded unit is not less than a codeword length of any second identifier indicating an intra-frame prediction mode of an available neighborhood reconstruction unit in a preset position of the current to-be-decoded unit as the intra-frame prediction mode of the current to-be-decoded unit.
