摘要： A machine, for example machine for cutting discrete sheets of material from a web, which includes a web supply and a processing station such as a cutoff station, is provided with a variable index drive operating feed structure for moving the web intermittently a predetermined but adjustable distance. The web is advanced intermittently and at which the frequency that varies in direct relation to the continuous speed of an input drive motor. The amount at which the web is fed during each cycle of the intermittent motion is settable by an operator by varying a continuous dial of a variable index drive. The variable index drive is a mechanical transmission having an index mechanism which produces a first intermittent output, a variable ratio unit connected at the output of the index mechanism for producing a second intermittent output having a speed that differs from the direct output of the index mechanism by the setting of the variable ratio unit, and a differential which produces a variable displacement in each cycle by combining the two outputs.

摘要： An indexing mechanism for providing intermittent rotation to a device includes a rotatable driven member having a pair of spaced oppositely disposed arcuate slots and a driving member having a pair of angularly spaced driving rollers engageable with the slots for rotatably accelerating and decelerating the driven member. The driven member locking rollers adjacent the slots engageable with the outer periphery of the driving member to prevent rotation of the driven member when it is not being indexed by the driving member. The indexing mechanism further includes a positive lock mechanism actuatable by a cam follower that rides within an endless cam track in the driving member. The positive lock mechanism is actuated by the cam follower to engage the indexed device and prevent rotation of the device when it is not being indexed.

The bore has a first constant diameter portion extending from the first end toward the second and a second variable diameter portion adjacent the second end. The first portion has a centroidal axis skewed from the centroidal axis of the tube. A retainer retains an orifice in the second portion. The retainer has a variable diameter for mating engagement with the variable diameter of the second portion. The retainer has a centroidal axis which intersects the centroidal axis of the tube at a first angle and intersects the centroidal axis of the bore at a second angle, greater than the first angle.

摘要： A bedding foundation used to support a mattress has a mechanism therein for moving the mattress between inclined and flat positions. The foundation combines desirable features of conventional non-adjustable bed bases and adjustable bed bases. A wire assembly and a motorized lift assembly comprising a motorized drive mechanism may be secured to a base of the foundation. The motorized lift assembly pivots a lifter which has two curved portions which function to raise and lower a deck board to incline and lower the mattress. If desired, a second motorized lift assembly may be incorporated into a bedding foundation for use with another deck board.

摘要： A multi-needle quilting machine (20) is provided with a tape or ribbon guide (30) that is operated by a method by which a narrow strip (32) is fed against a facing layer (11a) of a wide multi-layered material (24) as it is fed into the quilting machine. In the quilting machine (20), series of chain stitches are sewn, at least one of which joins the tape (32) and layers of the multi-layered material (24) together with the same thread in a quilting process, thereby applying the tape (32) to the quilted product in a single quilting operation without the need for a post-quilting tape application step. The tape may form a decorative strip or have unsewn sections that serve as handles for a mattress when the quilted product is formed into a mattress cover.
