Abstract:
An acoustic signal processing system and method. In accordance with an embodiment, the acoustic signal processing system includes an adaptive filter that filters a signal from a frequency band reservation module and generates a filter signal that is received by a subtractor. The subtractor generates an error signal that is used by a double-talk indicator module to generate a control signal that indicates the presence of double-talk.
Abstract:
A portable storage device comprising an openable outer enclosure, an inner storage compartment which is compressible by evacuation of air from the compartment and a pump integrated into the outer enclosure for evacuating the inner storage compartment.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to isolated genomic polynucleotide fragments that encode human carboxypeptidase M and human mouse double minute 2 homolog, vectors and hosts containing these fragments and fragments hybridizing to noncoding regions as well as antisense oligonucleotides to these fragments. The invention is further directed to methods of using these fragments to obtain human carboxypeptidase M and human mouse double minute 2 homolog and to diagnose, treat, prevent and/or ameliorate a pathological disorder.
Abstract:
A device for the generation of energy and in particular electrical energy includes a cell or chamber which moves upwardly and downwardly in a body of water. Cog wheels are connected to the cell. The cog wheels are connected to the shafts of generators. Rotation of the cog wheels operates the generators which produce energy. The cog wheels engage anchor chains or vertical supports. One end of each anchor chain is secured to an anchor located at the bottom of the body of water. The other end of the anchor chain is secured to a float which floats at or near the surface of the body of water. The up and down movement of the cell causes the cog wheels to move upwardly and downwardly along the anchor chains and thereby rotate. This rotation drives the energy generator and generates energy, preferably electricity. The cog wheels are permitted to rotate upon the receipt of a request for energy. This results in a highly efficient source of energy or electricity.
Abstract:
The invention, in one embodiment, is directed to a method of scoring the coating of a first coated base material at a temperature sufficiently elevated to part the coating and melt at least a portion of the first base material. In a further embodiment, the invention is directed to a method of forming a photovoltaic module by scoring a coating of a first coated base material at a temperature sufficiently elevated to part the coating and melt at least a portion of the first base material; scoring a coating of a second coated base material at a temperature sufficiently elevated to part the coating and at least a portion of the second base material; and joining the first and second base materials to form a photovoltaic module.
Abstract:
Binaural hearing instrument systems and methods are provided. The binaural hearing instrument system may include communications circuitry that is used to transmit data between left and right hearing instruments. The left and right hearing instruments may include binaural processing circuits that generate left and right audio output signals, respectively, as a function of the signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) of both the left and right audio input signals. The data transmitted between the left and right hearing instruments by the communications circuitry may be used to provide the SNR of the left audio input signal to the right hearing instrument and to provide the SNR of the right audio input signal to the left hearing instrument. In one example, the data transmitted between the left and right hearing instruments may include audio signals that may be used to determine the SNRs of the left and right audio input signals.
Abstract:
A telephone privacy device includes first and second connectors that are mateable with a telephone handset and a telephone base, respectively. The handset includes a microphone, and the device includes a variable amplifier that allows the user to amplify the microphone signal to a desired level prior to sending it on to the base. A signal strength display allows the user to monitor the amplitude of the amplified microphone signal. A side tone suppression circuit generates a side tone suppression signal in response to the amplified microphone signal. This side tone suppression signal is used to reduce excessive side tone from the telephone base. An adjustable gain amplifier amplifies the speaker signal supplied by the base for the handset speaker.
Abstract:
A portable universal monitoring device according to various aspects of the present technology includes a portable body housing a plurality of sensor devices. The portable body is configured to be repeatedly attached to and detached from one or more objects such as a wristwatch. The portable body is configured to be discretely positioned on the object to remain unseen without negatively affecting the fit, function, operation, or comfort of the object during use. The portable body may be used interchangeably with any number of objects without requiring the objects themselves to be modified.
Abstract:
Methods of acquiring cellular and tissue vibrational patterning to identify signatures capable to induce pluripotency and commitment towards defined lineages, as well as survival under hostile conditions (i.e. oxidative stress) in both human adult stem cells and human adult somatic cells are described. Specifically, the invention relates to the delivery of such signatures to human adult stem cells or human adult somatic cells to induce specific differentiation processes and promote survival to hostile environmental conditions. Further methods are described of targeting tissue resident in vivo to retrieve their ability to sustain self-healing process, therefore affording a Regenerative Medicine executed without the needs for (stem) cell or tissue transplantation.
