Abstract: The present invention realizes a bright image display by enhancing a numerical aperture of pixels. At least a portion of a pixel electrode is overlapped to a thin film transistor by way of a first insulation film, the pixel electrode is connected to an output electrode of the thin film transistor via a contact hole which is formed in the first insulation film, the counter electrode is arranged above the pixel electrode by way of a second insulation film in a state that the counter electrode is overlapped to the pixel electrode, the counter electrode is formed at a position avoiding the contact hole formed in the first insulation film as viewed in a plan view, and at least a portion of the counter electrode is overlapped to the thin film transistor.

Abstract: Screen brightness is improved in an IPS type liquid crystal display device.A common electrode having a slit is disposed over a rectangular pixel electrode with an insulating film attached therebetween. The slit has a linear part and a bend part. The bend part is necessary for preventing pressing domain. The transmittance in the bend part is increased by making the thickness of the insulating film below the bend part of the slit to less than the thickness of the insulating film at the linear part of the slit, thereby increasing the transmittance of the entire pixel. Thus, the screen brightness can be improved.

Abstract: Gate lines are arranged in a first direction. Drain lines are arranged in a second direction. A first electrode has slits formed therein. Aperture regions surrounded by the drain lines and the gate lines include an aperture region including the slits having a first inclined angle and an aperture region including the slits having a second inclined angle, the second inclined angle being different from the first inclined angle. The aperture region including the slits having the first inclined angle and the aperture region including the slits having the second inclined angle are alternately formed in the first direction. Abstract: To improve the display quality of a display device, the display device includes a display section and a frame section surrounding a periphery of the display section. A substrate in the display device includes a conductor pattern constituting a circuit section and an insulating film serving as an organic film covering the conductor pattern. The insulating film extends to a peripheral edge of the substrate. A slit, which penetrates the insulating film in a thickness direction, is formed in a corner part of the insulating film. The slit is formed at a position not overlapping the circuit section.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a thin film transistor substrate, a counter substrate, a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the thin film transistor substrate and the counter substrate. The thin film transistor substrate includes a first electrode and a second electrode for applying an electric field in a substrate in-plane direction, the first electrode includes a plurality of strip portions which extend in a predetermined direction.
