The first support section is configured to pivot between a first support position and a second support position with respect to the second support section. The first siderail is coupled to the first support section and configured to move therewith. The second siderail is coupled to the frame and is configured to move along the frame between a first position and a second position. The second siderail is configured to be positioned adjacent to the second support section in the first position, and adjacent to the first support section and below the first siderail in the second position.

    摘要: A bed has a head section and a foot section. The bed can assume a horizontal position and at least one position in which the foot section is at an angle relative to horizontal. For instance, the bed may assume a chair position, in which the head section is pivoted upwardly and the foot section is pivoted downwardly, to a substantially vertical position.Casters allow the bed to move relative to the floor. The casters can retract toward the head section of the bed as the foot section pivots downwardly toward the floor.

The length dimension is a first length and the width dimension is a first width when the adjustable foot section is in a first position, and the length dimension is a second length and the width dimension is a second width when the adjustable foot section is in a second position. The second length is less than the first length, and the second width is greater than the first width.

A propulsion device may be coupled to the patient support to facilitate movement of the patient support from one location to another. The propulsion device includes at least one wheel. A deployment mechanism moves the wheel between a storage position and a use position relative to the patient support. The deployment mechanism is motorized. The deployment mechanism uses a toggle force to initiate movement of the wheel from the storage position to the use position.

The transport assembly is configured to selectively move relative to the frame between a transport position and a brake position. A portion of the frame frictionally engages a portion of the transport assembly in the brake position to affect a brake application that resists the transportation of the frame.
