摘要： An electrical connector assembly includes a plug assembly for mating with a header. The plug assembly includes a plug housing and a lever, where the lever includes gear teeth which cooperate with a tooth on the header in a rack and pinion fashion. The lever is locked to the plug housing when the lever is poised for the plug housing to be inserted into the header. A release member on the header releases the lever from the locked position allowing the lever to be rotated to the position where the lever gear teeth mesh with the header tooth, to draw the plug assembly into the header.

摘要： A high density receptacle has a right-angled configuration having pins extending from a mounting face for interconnection to a printed circuit board. A second face is mountable to a bulkhead and has three rows of pins mounted in a cavity recessed from the second mounting face for interconnection to a matable plug having socket contacts. The contacts within the receptacle are disposed in three tiers, the contacts being bent around mandrels to form the right-angled bend. Below the mandrels is a contact locating plate having contact receiving slots in line with the contacts. The upper and lower row of contacts are laterally aligned with each other and with a first contact receiving slot. The first slot has two widths, and has a rib extending down along the edges of the slot. When the contacts are placed in the slot, the ribs interferingly hold the contacts in place. The second row of terminals is also aligned with a contact receiving slot having ribs for interferingly locking the second row of terminals in place.

摘要： A contact terminal has a termination section at one end thereof including a spaced pair of axially-extending slots within each of which a respective one of a pair of conductor wires is held in interference fit for weld termination such as by laser welding. The terminal can be a ground terminal for the pair of ground conductors of a tri-lead cable. The terminal is stamped from a metal blank and its termination section is formed by striking an axially extending boss upwardly in the center thereof having parallel vertical side surfaces and a selected width, and bending parallel vertical sidewalls upward from side portions of the termination section spaced selected distances from the side surfaces of the central boss. The sidewalls may be higher than the top of the central boss and contain inwardly directed rounded bosses which hold the conductor wires in the respective slots prior to weld termination.

摘要： A junction connector and a tap connector for a modular wiring system are disclosed. The junction connector has oppositely directed faces which receive cable connectors on the ends of the distribution cables of the system. Feed-through conductors in the junction connector are mated directly with terminals in the cable connectors. The tap connector is dimensioned to be mounted in a standard circular hole in a panel and has a mating face which is against a tap connector receiving face of the junction connector when the parts are mated. The terminals in the tap connector are arranged as a non-linear cluster in order that they might be all contained within the cylindrical tap connector housing. The feed-through conductors in the junction connector are in side-by-side coplanar relationship. The tap conductors which extend from the feed-through conductors to the tap terminals are rigid members, some of which have intermediate laterally extending portions to provide the transition to the cluster of terminals in the tap connector. These intermediate portions are received in recesses in the junction connector housing.

摘要： An electrical connector assembly includes a plug having front end including a mating interface and a receptacle having an opening configured to receive the mating interface of the plug. A deflectable latch includes a beam having a front end secured with the front end of the plug housing and a rear, free-standing end which is biasable towards the plug to permit the plug and receptacle to be mated with one another. The latch includes first and second latching projections extending from opposite sides of the beam. First and second latch mating elements are positioned within the receptacle opening to securely engage the first and second latching projections when the plug and receptacle housings are fully mated with one another. The plug and receptacle include first and second mating keying features. One of the keying features is configured to prevent other plugs with mating interfaces of the same size from being inserted into the receptacle. The other keying feature being configured to prevent smaller plugs from being inserted into the receptacle. The overall envelope of the plug's mating interface is reduced by defining one of the keying features in a side wall of the plug opposite that of the latch, while defining the other keying feature in one of the top and bottom walls of the mating interface.
