    摘要: A powder metallurgy article formed of a sulfur-containing, precipitation-hardenable, stainless steel alloy is described. The article has a unique combination of strength, ductility, processability, and machinability. The powder metallurgy article is formed of a stainless steel alloy having the following composition in weight percent. C 0.03 max. Mn 1.0 max. Si 0.75 max. P 0.040 max. S 0.010-0.050 Cr 10-14 Ni 6-12 Ti 0.4-2.5 Mo 6 max. B 0.010 max. Cu 4 max. Co 9 max. Nb 1 max. Al 1 max. Ta 2.5 max. N 0.03 max. The balance of the alloy is iron and the usual impurities. The powder metallurgy article according to this invention is characterized by a fine dispersions of titanium sulfides that are not greater than about 5 &mgr;m in major dimension. A method of preparing the powder metallurgy article is also described.

    摘要: A method of packing a well, particularly an oil, gas or water well comprises injecting a particle/liquid slurry into a wellbore wherein the particles comprise particles of at least two different densities independently selected from the density range of about 0.1 to about 4.0. The at least two different density particles may be injected as blend of different density particles or in a sequential series of slugs, each slug having a single density particle suspended therein. This technique gives substantially equivalent packing efficiency throughout the annulus, perforations and perforation chambers when compared with gravel packing using specialized low to medium density materials.

    摘要: A parachute system for an airman ejected from an aircraft in an ejection seat includes at least one drouge parachute housed within a rigid hollow container. In conventional manner, the drogue parachute is connected by lines with releasable attachments on the seat, one of the lines being further connected with the main parachute so that the latter will be deployed after release of said attachments. The container is formed as a projectile mounted in a gun mounted on the ejection seat. The container has, at its end facing away from the direction in which it is fired, a closure connected with the lines and with the drogue parachute. When the container and closure are fired from the gun, and the closure is arrested abruptly by the lines, the container continues in its trajectory whilst the drogue parachute is drawn from the container and deployed by the lines. After the drogue parachute has left the container, the container is completely free from the other components and can thus separate completely from the airman and the parachute system. The inventive arrangement avoids the risk presented by conventional systems in which a drogue bullet remains connected with the system presenting a hazard to the airman.

    摘要: A knock-down starting platform for a roof seaming machine includes spaced side frame rails joined at one end with a platform on which a roof seaming machine may be supported and joined at their other end with a movable gate or bridge. Pins are also included to prevent disconnection of the frame rails once those rails are connected. The bridge carries a member which is adapted to be secured relative to a roof panel to support the rails and platform on a roof with the platform supported beyond the edge of the roof and the rails disposed in straddling relationship to the seam between adjacent panels. The side frame rails, the pins, latching device and bridge comprise a plurality of releasably connected together parts separable from one another to enable the starting platform to be disassembled for storage, shipment and handling in the form of a kit.

The alloy provides a unique combination of properties in that useful articles made therefrom provide superior machining characteristics relative to known high strength 15Cr-5Ni precipitation-hardenable stainless steel alloys, while meeting the strength, ductility, and hardness requirements specified in AMS 5659 for critical applications.
