Abstract:
A system for providing access to data via a voice interface. In one embodiment, the system includes a voice recognition unit and a speech processing server that work together to enable users to interact with the system using voice commands guided by navigation context sensitive voice prompts, and provide user-requested data in a verbalized format back to the users. Digitized voice waveform data are processed to determine the voice commands of the user. The system also uses a “grammar” that enables users to retrieve data using intuitive natural language speech queries. In response to such a query, a corresponding data query is generated by the system to retrieve one or more data sets corresponding to the query. The user is then enabled to browse the data that are returned through voice command navigation, wherein the system “reads” the data back to the user using text-to-speech (TTS) conversion and system prompts.
Abstract:
A method and system for building/updating grammars in voice access systems is disclosed. The method includes receiving a grammar update request from a voice access system, retrieving data, filtering the data and providing the filtered data to the voice access system. The grammar update request identifies a navigation context of a user interface provided by a data system. The user interface provides access to information in the data system. The data is retrieved from the data system and pertains to the navigation context. The filtering is performed to obtain filtered data pertaining to user interface (UI) objects enabled for grammar updates.
Abstract:
A portable device is used to capture, in real time, data sufficient to identify a product or service promoted, or a music track played, on a broadcast medium such as radio. The device determines a current frequency setting of a nearby radio by short-range broadcast of a brief audio-frequency signature so as to form a feedback path from the radio sufficient to determine the frequency or station currently playing. The captured data is communicated to a services server to enable quick and convenient purchase of the desired product or service.
Abstract:
Hybrid interactive radio may be implemented utilizing an interactive radio server configured to receive now playing data (“NPD”) from a radio station on-air automation system server, the NPD identifying FM radio broadcast content now playing over the air from the radio station. In operation, the interactive radio server may acquire supplemental information from a database server in near-real time, based on the NPD. Utilizing a wireless telecom data connection, the interactive radio server may transmit the supplemental information to a hybrid interactive application running in a smart phone or a head unit of a vehicle. The hybrid interactive application generates a screen display that identifies the radio broadcast content now playing, integrates into the screen display at least a subset of the supplemental information associated with the broadcast content, and further provides a user interface to present interactions options to a user, including an option to request more information to be incorporated into the display while the content is playing.
Abstract:
Method and device for: receiving a playlist identifying a media item comprising a song or an advertisement, or a combination thereof, storing the playlist in a database, associating the identified media item with a first supplemental data and a second supplemental playlist data, sending the first supplemental data to a radio station server to be broadcast substantially simultaneously with the associated media item, and displaying the second supplemental data on a website, wherein the display is configured for accessing by a computer and mobile device.

Abstract:
A portable device is used to capture, in real time, data sufficient to identify a product or service promoted, or a music track played, on a broadcast medium such as radio or television. The capture device can be a standalone implementation, or an application program executable on a personal communication device such as a cell phone or Blackberry. The capture device communicates the captured data to a remote server via a selected wired or wireless channel, or the internet, and the server provides services to support the user in responding to the radio or television broadcast item that corresponds to the captured data.
Abstract:
Method and System to update grammar information in a voice access system that provides access to a data system. A user interface (UI) is provided to enable an administrator to select UI object pertaining to a user interface provided by the data system to provide grammar update support for. The data system user interface corresponds to a UI that users would see if using computer client connection to the data system. XSLT style sheets are built based on the UI objects that are selected for grammar update. A grammar update request may then submitted that identifies a navigation context of the data system UI, a style sheet to apply, and an optional last update value. In response to receiving the request, the system retrieves data from the data system pertaining to the navigation context; and filters the data using the identified style sheet and the last update value and provides the filtered data back to the voice access system to update its grammar.
Abstract:
Method and software architecture for providing data-change alerts corresponding to data changes in a data system to external (of the data system) applications. A computer user interface is provided to enable a user to identify user interface (UI) objects corresponding to a user interface of an application used to access the data system to provide data-change alert support for. For example, the UI objects may comprise screens, views, applets, fields, and columns. Based on the alert-enabled UI objects, data-change alert triggers are generated to monitor for data-change events (e.g., inserts, updates, and deletes) that cause changes to data in the data system corresponding to those alert-enabled UI objects. In response to data changes in the data system corresponding to alert-enabled UI objects, appropriate triggers are executed to initiate generation of data-change alerts comprising data values that have been changed. The data-change alerts are then pushed to the external application.
