Abstract: A system and medical device for the electromagnetic tracking of a medical instrument transported through the medical device. The medical device has a central axis and a channel that receives and transports a medical instrument through the medical device. The channel extends to a distal portion of the medical device and connects with an opening in the medical device that is not aligned with the central axis. The medical device includes a tracking component that is a plurality of coordinated electromagnetic sensors for generating a virtual axis of travel for the medical instrument, with the virtual axis passing through the opening of the device and being aligned with tool insertion axis.

Abstract: An X-ray imager has a navigation-aid subsystem including one or more transmitters (TX), one or more receivers (RX) and one or more reflectors (RFL). A radio signal is transmitted by transmitter (TX), is then reflected off reflector RFL and is then received at receiver (RX). The received signal is then resolved into positional correction information that can be used to guide a motion of the imager's tube (S) and or detector (D) to position and/or align the tube (S) and/or detector (D) relative to each other in a desired spatial configuration to ensure optimal imaging results. The imager may be a mobile imaging system with the detector (D) portable.

Abstract: A treatment device (100) and a treatment system are provided. The treatment device (100) is suitable for temporarily or permanently placing a therapeutic device (112) in a part of a corpus of a living being. The treatment device (100) comprises an elongated body (102) for being inserted in the part of the corpus. The elongated body (102) comprises a channel (110) and an impedance sensor element (104). The channel (110) is for guiding the therapeutic device (112) to a specific position (PI) within the channel (110) and/or for holding the therapeutic device (112) at a specific position (PI) within the channel (110). The impedance sensor element (1040) is configured to be coupled to a detection device for detecting the presence of the therapeutic device (112) at the specific position (PI) on basis of a change of a signal provided by the impedance sensor element (104).
