A multi-point cell type weighing machine has a plural number of scale cells set on a floor to support a table and to output weight signals indicative of weights measured thereby of a target object placed on the table. One or more floor vibration detecting cells are set on the same floor and output floor vibration detection signals indicative of the vibrations of the floor. The weight signals are corrected on the basis of vibration components of the floor vibration detection signals. A standard weight is placed at a larger plural number of places on the table than there are scale cells and output sensitivity ratios among the scale cells are calculated from outputted values from the scale cells, and the weight signals are further corrected on the basis of the output sensitivity ratios. These weight signals are added together and the weight of the target object is obtained from the added signal. A plurality of floor vibration detecting cells may be set on the floor, each near different one of the scale cells, or they may be set anywhere on the floor and a mode of floor vibrations may calculated from their outputs. A single floor vibration detecting cell may be set between the scale cells. The table is supported by the scale cells through elastic pieces such that only vertical forces are communicated to the scale cells.

To facilitate the adjustment of the accuracy and servicing maintenance of the electronic weighing apparatus, the weighing apparatus comprises a load cell and a signal processing circuit for processing a load signal from the load cell to provide a weight signal indicative of the load. The load cell includes a strain inducing element capable of producing strains in proportion to the load imposed thereon, and a bridge circuit, having a pair of strain gauges fixed on the stain inducing element and a plurality of resistors. A load signal is taken from a junction between the strain gauges and reference voltage signals are taken from junctions between the resistors. The load signal and the reference voltage signals are supplied to the signal processing circuit. If each of the strain gauges is employed in the form of a temperature compensating resistor having a characteristic effective to compensate for both of the temperature coefficient of thermal expansion of the strain inducing element and the temperature coefficient of the Young's modulus, the number of necessary component parts can be reduced.

There is provided a system for adjusting the span of an electronic scale having a double-integrating A/D converter for converting a weight signal into a digital signal. The double-integrating A/D converter has a software-implemented timer for controlling a primary integrating time. The operation time of the software-implemented timer is adjusted linearly or in steps so that a digital value at the time a weight is placed on the scalepan of the scale will correspond to the weight. The adjustment of the operation time of the software-implemented timer is utilized to adjust the differences between gravitational accelerations corresponding to different weights in geographical areas on the earth.

The sensor case 33 is made by casting stainless material by a lost wax process and is directly coupled to parallel base frames 20 for maintaining the distance between the base frames. The sensor case has sufficient mechanical strength and also acts as a structural member for the base frames, thereby reducing the number of components and the height of a weighing table.

A strain generating element includes plural strain generating portions. Each of strain gauges is a gauge of a temperature/sensitivity compensated type and is placed in a position on a corresponding strain generating portion. A bridge circuit includes the strain gauges. A zero compensation element compensates the zero of the bridge circuit in accordance with the temperature of the strain generating element, to roughly correct an output of the bridge circuit. A thermal sensitive resistor is a temperature sensor for detecting the temperature of the strain generating element. The zero compensation element and the thermal sensitive resistor are provided on a thick portion interposed between adjacent strain generating portions. A signal processor minutely corrects a roughly-corrected output of the bridge circuit. Thus, software compensation of zero can be further provided to an output of the bridge circuit, to which circuital compensation of zero is provided.

A weighing machine, such as a combinational weighing machine, has scale cells and a plurality of dummy cells installed on the same floor. The scale cells output weight signals corresponding to the weights of objects being loaded. The mode of vibrations of the floor is detected from dummy signals from the dummy cells, vertical displacements of the floor at the positions of the scale cells are calculated, and their effects are eliminated from the weight signals. Those of the scale cells not selected after a cycle of combinational calculations can be used as dummy cells in the next cycle. A memory device may be provided to store preferred combinations of such scale cells not selected that may be used for this purpose. Effects of the floor vibrations can be eliminated more accurately if the differences in sensitivity among the cells due to physical characteristics of the individual cells and/or due to the different loads on them can be taken into account either by a feedback calculation or by a formula.

A plurality of spaced groove segments (31) are formed on the second surface of the plate material (30) so as to extend parallel to each other, and a plurality of strain detecting elements (23) are subsequently formed on the first surface of the plate material (30) in a substantially matrix pattern so as to assume a predetermined positional relationship with respective positions of the groove segments (31). The apparatus includes oscillation sensing means provided in the vicinity of the load cell for producing an output signal indicative of an oscillation component caused by floor oscillation, a summing amplifier for adding the output signal from the load cell and a signal which is the inverse of the output signal from the oscillation sensing means, and signal processing means for processing the output of the summing amplifier to remove an oscillation component contained in the output signal from the load cell. The oscillation component is caused by oscillation received by the weight sensor from its surroundings.
