    摘要: An illumination system includes a light source, first and second cylindrical lens arrays, and a relay lens. The first cylindrical lens array includes a plurality of cylindrical lens cells which divide light emitted from the light source into a plurality of beams. The second cylindrical lens array includes a plurality of cylindrical lens cells which combine the beams divided by the cylindrical lens cells in an identical direction. The relay lens relays beams passed through the second cylindrical lens array so that most of the beams are concentrated on an incident light axis to have a Gaussian distribution. Accordingly, light passed through slits for controlling the divergence angle of incident light or the etendue of an optical system has a Gaussian distribution in a color separation direction or a color scrolling direction.

The polarization conversion system includes an incidence plane through which light emitted from the light source enters, and transmits a beam with a first polarization from the light entering through the incidence plane and reflects a beam with a second polarization toward the incidence plane and then changes the polarization of the reflected beam. The reflection mirror reflects the light emitted from the polarization conversion system through the incidence plane back toward the incidence plane. The color separator separates an incident beam according to color. The scrolling unit scrolls the color beams. The light valve processes an incident beam according to an image signal and forms a color picture. The projection lens unit magnifies and projects the color picture onto a screen.

The slit in the at least one filter controls a divergence angle of light emitted from the light source. The scrolling unit scrolls an incident beam. The color separator has a plurality of dichroic filters which separate an incident beam emitted from the light source according to color. The light valve receives a plurality of color beams from the color separator and transmitted by the scrolling unit on corresponding color areas and forms a plurality of color bars by scrolling the color beams. A black bar is formed between adjacent color bars by controlling a distance between adjacent dichroic filters or by controlling the width of the slit in the at least one filter.

    摘要: An image display system includes an illumination system, a light valve, a polarization beam splitter, and at least one polarizing element. The illumination system includes a light source, a color separator, and a scrolling unit. The light valve processes color beams which are scrolled, according to an input image signal and form a color image. The polarization beam splitter transmits or reflects an incident light beam according to polarization so light from the illumination system advances toward the light valve and light from the light valve advances toward a projection lens unit. A polarizing element may be installed at a path of light traveling toward the polarization beam splitter or a path of light that is reflected by the light valve and travels toward the projection lens unit.
