    Abstract: In an image forming apparatus, an extraction processing portion extracts one or more items of personal information from image data of a card read by an image reading portion. A document data acquiring portion acquires image data of a fixed-form document. A document layout acquiring portion acquires document layout information that indicates one or more composite positions in the image data of the fixed-form document where the one or more items of personal information are to be combined. A composition processing portion generates composite image data by combining the personal information extracted by the extraction processing portion with the image data of the fixed-form document in accordance with the document layout information. A print control portion causes an image forming portion to execute a composite image printing process of printing a composite image represented by the composite image data on a sheet.

    Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes an area extracting unit and a table image detecting unit. The area extracting unit is configured to extract halftone dot areas and character images in an image.     Abstract: In an image processing apparatus, a character recognizing unit identifies a character image in a document image. A font matching unit determines a character code and a font type corresponding to the identified character image. A fore-and-background setting unit sets the document image as a background image and sets a standard character image based on the determined character code and the determined font type. A background image correcting unit (a) deletes a deletion area in the background image, the deletion area taking a same position as the character image or the standard character image, (b) interpolates a differential area between the character image and the standard character image in a specific neighborhood area that contacts with the deletion area on the basis of the background image, and (c) interpolates the deletion area on the basis of the back ground image.

    Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming section, a primary conveyance section, a first diverging section, a sorting ejection section, a secondary conveyance section, and a housing. The first diverging section is located downstream of the image forming section in a paper conveyance direction in the primary conveyance section. The secondary conveyance section diverges from the primary conveyance section at the first diverging section. The sorting ejection section sorts and ejects the paper conveyed thereto by the secondary conveyance section. The housing constitutes an apparatus main body and houses the image forming section, the primary conveyance section, the first diverging section, and part of the secondary conveyance section. One side wall of a plurality of side walls of the housing has an opening. The secondary conveyance section conveys the paper to a proximal end of the sorting ejection section through the opening.

    Abstract: An image scanning unit optically scans a document image of a document. A transportation device performs transportation of the document set at a front insertion-ejection port as an insertion port and ejection port of the document. A controller performs in a first scanning mode image scanning of a top sheet of the document if the document has been bound with a staple. In the first scanning mode, the controller performs image scanning of a partial scanning area in the top sheet while transporting the document using the transportation device, and reverses a transportation direction of the document at a time point that the image scanning of the partial scanning area is finished. The partial scanning area is from a front end to a predetermined position of the top sheet, and the predetermined position is a position nearer to the front end than a binding position of the staple.

    Abstract: A document checking apparatus includes an image scanning device, a printing device, an output tray, and a controller. The image scanning device is configured to scan a document image sheet by sheet from a document including plural sheets. The output tray is as an output destination of both the document outputted from the image scanning device and a print sheet outputted from the printing device. The controller is configured to perform checking of the document image, and if an error is detected in the checking of the document image, control the printing device and thereby insert the print sheet as an interleaving sheet immediately before or immediately after a sheet where the error is detected.
