Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image reader unit and a control unit. The image reader unit generates read data. The control unit generates output data of image data cropped from the read data. When cropping a plurality of image data, the control unit sets one side of the read data to a first reference side and sets another side perpendicular to the first reference side to a second reference side, and for each of the plurality of image data, the control unit detects a first distance between the first reference side and the image data in a direction parallel to the second reference side, and a second distance between the second reference side and the image data in a direction parallel to the first reference side, and sets an output order of the plurality of image data based on the first distances and the second distances.

Abstract: An image scanning apparatus of this disclosure includes: a scanner unit which generates image data by image scanning and outputs it; a memory; a data processing unit which (a1) performs a predetermined process for either the image data outputted by the scanner unit or the image data for which a preprocess has been performed, (a2) writes the processed image data into a predetermined memory area in the memory in turn, and (a3) returns a writing position of the image data to a top of the memory area and overwrite the image data if the writing position of the image data reaches an end of the memory area; and a control unit which (b1) allocates the memory area in the memory and (b2) measures a shortage amount of the memory area on the basis of a size of an area where the image data has been overwritten.

Abstract: An image reading unit reads a source document image in 600 dpi, and a resolution conversion unit converts the resolution of the image to 75 dpi. An inclination detection unit detects inclination of the source document image. When a character conversion unit is to execute character recognition after cropping, a mode setting unit sets a quality-first mode. The inclination correction unit corrects the inclination of the image of 600 dpi, according to the inclination of the source document image detected by the inclination detection unit. A document image clipping unit clips out the source document image, and the resolution conversion unit converts the resolution of the source document image to 200 dpi. Thereafter, the character conversion unit executes the character recognition.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image reading unit, an image forming unit, an acceptance unit, a paper transporting unit, a mode selecting unit, and a control unit. The image reading unit includes a document transporting device, a loaded-document detecting unit, a document table, a document holder, and a placed-document detecting unit. The mode selection unit can select a first mode in which paper is transported at the start of image reading operation and a second mode in which paper is transported after the image reading operation. If the loaded-document detecting unit detects that a document has not been loaded in a loading position and the placed-document detecting unit detects that a document has not been placed on the document table, the control unit controls the mode selection unit to select the second mode and controls the image reading unit to read an image on the document table.
