摘要: A bone screw assembly includes a screw, an outer housing, and an inner housing. The screw includes a shank and a head. The outer housing has a proximal end, a distal end, and a passageway extending longitudinally therethrough. The outer housing defines a saddle at the proximal end thereof for receiving at least a portion of a rod therein. The inner housing is positionable within the passageway of the outer housing. The inner housing has a recessed distal portion for receiving the head of the screw therein. The inner housing also includes a proximal surface defining a substantially V-shaped configuration for receiving rods of different diameters therein.

摘要: An apparatus supports the spine between vertebrae and promotes spinal fusion. The apparatus generally includes a first supporting member, a second support member, and an expansion member. The first support member has a first longitudinal passage extending therethrough, a first supporting end configured to engage tissue, and a rack configured to engage a tool. The second supporting member contains a second longitudinal passage extending therethrough and a second supporting end configured to engage tissue. The second longitudinal passage is dimensioned to receive at least a portion of the first supporting member. The first and second supporting members are configured to move with respect to each other. The expansion member is removably positioned between the first and second supporting members and is adapted to maintain the first and second supporting members in a fixed relative position.

摘要: A forced growth axial growing spine device includes a central body portion having opposing ends. At least one housing is disposed at one end of the central body portion. The at least one housing includes a locking mechanism. At least one rigid member is coupled to the central body portion. The locking mechanism allows the rigid member to translate in one direction and inhibits translation of the rigid member in an opposing direction. Additionally, the central body portion includes a cam and at least one port. One or more ball bearings may be inserted into the ports. Operation of the cam in conjunction with the ball bearing urges the rigid member away from the cam, thereby increasing an overall length of the forced growth axial growing spine device.

摘要: A device, system and method for orthopedic spine surgery using a novel screw-based retractor, disclosed herein, that allows for access to the spine through a minimally or less invasive approach. The retractor device is designed to be coupled to a pedicle screw and then to have opposed arms of the retractor spread apart to open the wound proximally. The retractor is removed by pulling it out of the wound whereby the retractor is deformed to pass over the pedicle screw head. The retractor is intended to be made of a stiff plastic material, sterile packaged and disposable after one use. A system and method for using the retractor and performing a minimally invasive spine surgical procedure are also disclosed.

摘要: A device, system and method for orthopedic spine surgery using a novel screw-based retractor, disclosed herein, that allows for access to the spine through a minimally or less invasive approach. 摘要: A dynamic cervical plate includes a first end section and a second end section. In embodiments, the dynamic cervical plate may include one or more middle sections positioned between the first and second end sections. Each section may be longitudinally repositionable. Each section may include a plurality of openings for receiving threaded fasteners such as a self-starting screw or a self-tapping screw. In addition, each section may include an orifice for releasably mating with a drill guide. Each of the end sections may include a notch at one end for aligning with the drill guide or fixation pins. In one embodiment, a pin is used to interconnect the sections. In other embodiments, support bars are used to limit flexure between sections. In embodiments, one or more locking elements and/or one or more support bars may operably interconnect each section.

摘要: An expandable cage supports adjacent vertebra in spine surgery. The expandable cage includes a first supporting member configured to engage tissue and a second supporting member operatively associated with the first supporting member. The first and second supporting members are movable relative to each other. The expandable cage further includes a cam lock mechanism configured to maintain the first and second supporting members in a fixed relative position. In another embodiment, the expandable cage includes a ring plate lock mechanism in lieu of the cam lock mechanism. The ring plate lock mechanism is adapted to maintain the first and second supporting members in a fixed relative position.
