摘要:
Curable solid inks and low shrinkage curable solid inks which are solid at room temperature and molten at an elevated temperature at which the molten ink is applied to a substrate. In particular, the solid inks of the present embodiments retain the advantages of handling, safety, and print quality usually associated with conventional solid phase change inks but provide additional breakthrough performance characteristics such as enhanced robustness, lower jetting temperature, and ultra-low shrinkage upon crystallization, which allow the inks to be used as novel materials in inkjet-based Braille and raised print applications.

摘要:
A system and method create an authentication mark on a recording medium by depositing marking material on a medium in an image area to create a marking material image and to create a marking material authentication image. The marking material comprises an ultraviolet curable phase change ink composition comprising an optional colorant and a phase change ink vehicle comprising a radiation curable monomer or prepolymer; a photoinitiator; a reactive wax; and a gellant. A predetermined amount of additional marking material is further deposited upon the medium in the authentication image area to increase an amount of marking material associated with the marking material authentication image in the authentication image area. The fixed marking material associated with the authentication image area is a tactilely perceptible authentication mark having a height, with respect to a surface of the medium, that is tactilely perceptible, wherein the fixed marking material associated with the marking material image area is tactilely non-perceptible.
摘要:
A method for forming tactile images or a combination of tactile images and regular images, on a flexible packaging substrate comprising depositing an ultraviolet curable phase change ink composition comprising an optional colorant and a phase change ink vehicle comprising a radiation curable monomer or prepolymer; a photoinitiator; a reactive wax; and a gellant directly onto a flexible packaging substrate or depositing the ink onto an intermediate transfer member, in an image area to form a tactile image area or a combination of tactile image area and regular image; forming the tactile image by depositing multiple layers of the ink in locations of the tactile image or portion thereof; when an intermediate transfer member is used, transferring the deposited ink from the intermediate transfer member to the flexible packaging substrate; and curing the ink.
摘要:
A phase change ink includes an ink vehicle that includes at least one curable carrier, at least one gellant, at least one wax and at least one alkoxysilane monomer. In a method of forming an image with the ink, the phase change ink is melted, then jetted onto an image receiving substrate, wherein the phase change ink forms a gel state, and exposed to ultraviolet light to cure the curable components of the phase change ink. The alkoxysilane participates in crosslinking to form silicon-oxygen-silicon bonds, thereby producing an ink with advantageous stability and high image quality.

This disclosure is generally directed to curable phase change inks, such as radiation-curable phase change inks, and their use in forming images, such as through inkjet printing. More specifically, this disclosure is directed to radiation-curable phase change inks, such as ultraviolet-light-curable phase change inks, that an ink vehicle and at least one crystalline polyester resin.

摘要:
A radiation-curable gel ink with reduced syneresis. The inks include a curable monomer, an organic gellant, a gel-forming wax, an optional photoinitiator, and an optional colorant. Also disclosed are methods of making such inks, and methods of forming images with such inks.
摘要:
A method for fabricating a three-dimensional object including depositing a first amount of an ultraviolet curable phase change ink composition comprising an optional colorant and a phase change ink vehicle comprising a radiation curable monomer or prepolymer; a photoinitiator; a reactive wax; and a gellant upon a print region surface; successively depositing additional amounts of the ultraviolet curable phase change ink composition to create a three-dimensional object; and curing the ultraviolet curable phase change ink composition.
