The flexible wiring board includes a wiring pattern connected to a head body at one end and to an external circuit system at the other end, an insulation protection film that protects the wiring pattern, and a base composed of a metal that extends over the insulation protection film and the wiring pattern. The base has a guide through hole that functions as a guide for bending the base. The guide through hole has a plurality of notches disposed at different positions in a length direction of the base. The notches reduce a remaining width of the base in a bend width direction of the base.

    摘要: A magnetic head may include a flexure coupled to a leading end of a load beam. The flexure may include a fixing portion fixed to the load beam, a pair of outriggers extending from opposite ends of the fixing portion toward the leading end of the load beam, a connector connecting the outriggers, a blade spring extending from a center of the connector toward the fixing portion in a space between the outriggers, and a tongue-shaped piece connected to and supported by the blade spring and having a slider on its surface facing a recording medium. The flexure may further include one or more slits. Thus, the tongue-shaped piece may be displaceably supported against elastic stress of portions of the blade spring and the connector.

    摘要: A correcting method for reducing variations in floating height and gram load of a floating-type magnetic head device is disclosed. The floating-type magnetic head device includes a load beam, a flexure that has an elastically flexible tongue piece and disposed in the load beam adjacent to the recording medium, and a head body fixed on the surface of the tongue piece adjacent to the recording medium. During rotation of the recording medium, the head body floats over the recording medium. The correcting method includes a first correcting step of detecting a roll-angle corresponding amount in the free state of the front end of the front end and bending the load beam in the direction where the roll-angle corresponding amount approaches zero, and a second correcting step of putting the floating-type magnetic head device into a temporarily mounted state with respect to the load beam, detecting a roll-angle corresponding amount at the tongue piece of the flexure in the temporarily mounted state, and bending at least one of the left and right outriggers in the direction where the roll-angle corresponding amount approaches zero.

At a leading side of a slider substrate, a shock absorbing layer is provided which has a hardness lower than a hardness of the slider substrate, and a projecting portion is provided on a surface of the shock absorbing layer. If an external force is applied to the slider substrate and the leading side of the slider substrate becomes closer to a magnetic disk, only the projecting portions contact with the magnetic disk. A height of a convex portion and a depth of a concave portion, which are generated on the surface of the magnetic disk, can be decreased, so that it is possible to prevent the magnetic disk from being damaged.
