    摘要: The present invention relates to composite structured adsorbents and methods of use therefor. The invention more particularly relates to composite structured adsorbents that can include a multi-channel framework (e.g., monoliths), the channels of the multi-channel framework containing adsorbent beads particles therein, with a channel-to-particle diameter ratio in the range of 1 to 10, more preferably 1 to 7 and even more preferably 1 to 5. In the case of non-spherical particles, the hydraulic diameter is used in the calculation of the channel-to-particle diameter. The composite structured adsorbents of the present invention can be used in various industrial applications, for example in pressure swing adsorption (PSA) or vacuum pressure swing adsorption (VPSA) processes to produce O2 from air.

    摘要: The present invention relates generally to processes and systems for recovering helium from low helium-containing feed gases (i.e., containing less than about 10 volume % helium and more typically, less than about 5% helium by volume). The present invention more particularly relates to processes and systems for recovering helium from low helium-containing feed gases using temperature swing adsorption (TSA) systems and multiple (e.g. two) stage vacuum pressure swing adsorption (VPSA) systems. In preferred embodiments of the invention, the first stage VPSA system is configured to provide regeneration gas for the TSA system, and/or the VPSA second stage tail gas is recycled to the first stage VPSA system.

    摘要: The present invention generally relates to large capacity (e.g., greater than 350 tons/day O2) vacuum pressure adsorption (VPSA) systems and processes that employ a single train including four beds, at least one feed compressor feeding two beds simultaneously at any given instant in time, and a single vacuum pump. The compressor(s) and the vacuum pump can be utilized 100% of the time. Use of product quality gas for purging is avoided, with about 10-20% improvement in O2 productivity and 5-10% reduction in capital cost expected.

    摘要: This invention provides a two bed pressure swing adsorption process for recovering a primary gaseous component at a purity of over 99% from a feed gas comprising the primary component and one or more impurities. One such process includes: (a) passing the feed gas through a first adsorption bed to remove one or more impurities; (b) conducting a pressure swing adsorption cycle in the first bed; (c) separately passing effluent gases from the first bed into at least two separate tanks for subsequent purging and pressurization of the beds; (d) storing a gas mixture in the first of the tanks containing the primary component in a concentration higher than the concentration of the primary component in the gas mixture in the second of the tanks; (e) refluxing the mixture of the primary component from the second tank in the first adsorption bed during the regeneration steps therein; (f) refluxing the mixture of the primary component from the first tank in the first adsorption bed during the regeneration steps therein; (g) simultaneously and non-concurrently performing steps (a) to (f) in a second bed; and (h) recovering the product gas stream.

    摘要: A PSA method incorporating the invention is applicable to the separation of a preferred gas from a mixture of the preferred gas and a less preferred gas. The PSA method uses an adsorbent bed including one or more layers of O.sub.2 equilibrium selective adsorbents, and comprises the steps of: pressurizing the adsorbent bed to a high pressure with a feed of air to enable the adsorbent bed to adsorb O.sub.2 ; extracting from the bed at bed pressure, a flow of N.sub.2 and storing at least some of the flow in a product tank; desorbing O.sub.2 from the adsorbent bed by feeding void gas in the bed enclosure to a storage tank and venting the adsorbent bed to a low pressure region; purging the adsorbent bed by feeding thereto the void gas from the storage tank; and repressurizing the adsorbent bed to an intermediate pressure with a flow of void gas from the storage tank.
