摘要: A system for conveniently removing recipients from a message being added to a message thread that enables a user to filter people from a recipient list of a message being added to a message thread. The system advantageously enables a user to filter out potential recipients based on a) their previous non-participation in the thread, b) their lack of registered interest in a topic of the thread, and/or c) their being listed only as recipients by way of their being contained in a group indicated in the recipient list.

摘要: A method for providing personalized, shared bookmarks that determines which bookmarks are to be shared with a given user based at least in part on an interest profile associated with that user. The interest file can be used to define important other users, based on attributes, titles, or names associated with those other users. Shareable bookmarks defined by important other users are provided to the local user through the local navigation program. The list of important persons used to define which bookmarks should be shared may be determined in various specific ways. An interest profile may be automatically maintained containing a list of persons that are important for a specific user. The list may be automatically calculated based on information such as recent email traffic, and/or can be defined manually. Privacy issues may be addressed by enabling a user to prevent certain bookmarks they define locally from being shared.

摘要: A system for automatically providing notifications to a user regarding interesting content, which automatically collects information regarding persons that are important to the user, as well as indications of important content sources. The important content sources are then monitored for actions performed by one of the important persons for the user, and notifications are generated to the user in the event that the important person performs an action on a document or other information item stored in the important content source. Important persons for a user may be determined through a communication application used by the user, such as an electronic mail program, instant messaging program, or the like, in response to indications of persons that the user has either sent messages to and/or received messages from. The notifications may be provided through the user's communication application, by electronic mail messages, instant messages, or the like. The notification may include a name, identifier, or other indication of the important person that performed the action on the important content source. Notifications may be provided to the user in response to any specific kind of action by the important persons on an important content source, such as create operations, modify operations, and/or delete operations.

摘要: A system for full text indexing optimization that operates based on identification of idle and active content in a content source, and by prioritizing indexing of idle content over active content. Active and idle content items are automatically identified, and idle content items are given a higher priority for indexing, while active content items are given a lower priority. Active content items are generally those that are considered relatively more likely to be located by the user without using the full text indexing function, while idle content items are those content items that are relatively more likely to be located through use of the full text indexing function. The specific content item attributes that are used to determine whether a given content item is active or idle may depend on the type content source for which the full text index is being provided. Additionally, the determination of which content items are active and which are idle may be based on predetermined, static criteria, and/or dynamically determined use patterns determined by monitoring operations performed on content items by a user.

摘要: A system for providing automatic off-line availability of shared document content linked in electronic mail (“email”) messages. Documents indicated by links in processed email messages may accessed when a client system user is working either online or offline. A software component operates to read through email messages sent to a client system user, and to locate messages including links to content stored on the server system. The software component accesses the content indicated by the links contained in the email messages, and moves the content onto the client system for offline access. The software component may include a periodically scheduled agent, and/or a component that is called just prior to the client system or email application going offline.

摘要: A method, system and apparatus for the offline securing of messages through selective security data replication. A method for selectively replicating security data for offline processing of electronic messages can include identifying a messaging partner associated with the electronic message responsive to processing an electronic message. Subsequently, it can be determined whether electronic messages previously had been received from or transmitted to the identified messaging partner. If it is determined that electronic messages previously had been received from or transmitted to the identified messaging partner, identifying information for the identified messaging partner can be added to a batch listing. Consequently, during a replication process, security data can be selectively replicated from an external repository to a local repository only for security data associated with messaging partners corresponding to identifying information in the batch listing.

摘要: A system for making the contents of the “Subject:” field of a response email message more meaningful and more useful within a conversation thread of email messages by providing an abstract of the response message within the “Subject:” field. Before a response message is sent, the system automatically generates at least one new subject line that it proposes to the user for use in the “Subject:” field of the response message. The system generates a user interface display of a number of proposed subject lines, and also provides the user with the options of accepting, modifying, or declining the proposed subjects lines. The displayed contents of a “Subject:” field for the response message contains the currently selected one of the proposed subject lines. A predetermined one of the proposed subject lines may be provided as an initial default value of the “Subject:” field. The system generates the proposed subject lines using auto-summarization techniques, which are performed using various text analysis and information retrieval techniques based on attributes of the response message.

摘要: A system for providing a gathered threads view of email messages that effectively indicates the presence of messages from important persons and/or from new participants in the thread. When a message in a thread is received, the sender of the message is compared to a list of important persons for the receiving user. If the message is from a person that is important to the receiving user, then an indication of that message is presented in the user interface with a higher display precedence than indications of messages in the thread from users that are not important. The sender of a received message in a thread may also be compared with the senders of previous messages in the thread and the recipients of the first message in the thread. If the sender of the received message is a person that has not previously been a sender of a previous message in the thread, then that message is considered to be from a new participant in the thread, and an indication of the received message is presented in the user interface with a higher display precedence than indications of messages in the thread sent from persons that had previously been senders. The system may display indications of all messages in a thread received from important persons are displayed at a higher precedence than indications of messages from new thread participants, which are in turn displayed at a higher precedence than indications of all other messages in the thread.
